Yea sounds about the same mine seems to carry through until around 2500 until it runs out of punch.

I should mention the whole idea of swapping this spring and tinkering like this was Mike's(traveller) idea. hes the one who informed me of all this, and i gotta give him the credit. cheers Mike!

Interesting, what is your governor now at? When I spoke to a tuning shop about dyno tuning my 13BT they said they could get a little more fuel by upping the governor, similar pumps I guess. I'm not to keen on raising the governor though as I spend a bit of time now it now already....

Hi hulsty,
Most of the 13bt i know have a different IP, with a mechanical governor. But playing with toyota's for years , nothong suprices me. This mechanical govenor is somthing totolaly differnet. But just as fun as the vacuum ones. With the srews on the top of the pump you can adjust the increase and decrease patern of you fuel.

Having a very busy weekend because of the 4wd festival here in holland, after this weekend ill try to make you a drawing to explane how it works.

Mike

Sent from my iPad using IH8MUD... fun starts where the road ends

Couple of vids i just took today after screwin around a bit.
Boost is around 15psi
Fuel turned up a little( arm is almost perfectly perpendicular to pump. +/- 1 turn.
Hey Mike, the max rpm screw. turn it in or out to increase max rpms. mine was 1 turn fron all the way out. Didnt want to go any further out. turned it back to where it was until i can verify...
As you can see, i get a little grey smoke when i mat the throttle. Then nothin. and if i mat it at speed no smoke at all. ill turn the fuel up 2 full turns and take another vid for reference later.
Cheers

sorry posted videos as private
good to go now

So i adjusted my max rpm screw ( directly underneath govenor cover) you have to loosen off a long cap nut and a lock nut and there is a threaded flathead screw. it was initially set at 3880 max rpm. I turned it in 3 or 4 turns and got 4280rpm. i might turn it in as much as possible while still being able to fit both nuts on( 4or 5 threads showing) these are safety wired stock, but mine had since been tampered with as the wire was cut already. results show a bit better power up high with it increased 4 or 500 rpm. i also turned the air sensing line over 90 deg and it changed the response and pickup a little. very subtle change. i ended up putting back the way it was. still playing with my boost controller and wastegate. setting the wastegate too loose and it creeps open before max boost and response is slower and egts climb faster with max boost at 12-14psi. setting too high i get 20 psi not even trying in all gears. i have a grainger valve boost controller that is pretty sensitive to adjustment. tryin to find the happy medium between the wastegate and th BC. maybe swap in ext. wastegate? anyone find they are more stable?
Cheers

So heres an update. Been awhile i know.
Mileage is pretty good still. im running a moderate fuel setting and still have lots of power. havent needed to touch it in weeks.
I installed a blow off valve set to 4 psi. noticeable improvement in boost lag in between gear changes coming off the light. turbo stays spooled up and i get the cool whoosh sound lol. this is very effective when coming off the accelerator quickly.
Ive been stalling on my intercooler install. i either need to lift the hood up a half inch or just do a complete 1" body lift to vlear everyrhing. figure a body lift cant hurt either.....
Cheers

Do you need to adjust the max RPM's to make use of the change in spring I've done the mod and notice a difference in responsiveness but its not really got much pickup at higher revs (around 2400ish rpm). I have turned up the fuel but haven't noticed any increase in power, I'm running about 13psi boost with a Garret 2052 turbo..

Yea I have my max speed control screw wound in all the way. (I think I actually killed the bearing on it...)
Mine runs out of torque at around 28-2900 and the real power is at 1950-2500. Im pretty sure the rack travel is very limited by the governor. I'm waiting to swap pumps to blow the 3b pump open and install a "normal" governor with direct cable control of the throttle.

If anyone has one of these springs they are willing to part with or ship to me I would be most appreciative.
I can find them online for minimal money but then get quoted between $40 and $80 for shipping to Australia.
Thanks in advance.

Have you turn the nipple? And hole for the hose? Should help a lot.
