Looking for a 3B rocker assembly. Thanks
Hello good morning friend, I'm also looking for rocker arms, but I don't know if you knew that there are several models and it can be very tedious to find the specific one because there is variation by year and model of the head. Normally you have to know specifically which one is needed ... some rocker arms have the coarse adjustment screw (which came out mostly for engines that had a linear fuel pump) and the other model came with thinner rocker arm adjustment screws (which is the one that has a rotary fuel pump) and they came out for the Japanese market, I'll put some photos to guide you, THE 3B ENGINE HAS MANY VARIATIONS DUE TO THE YEARS OF MANUFACTURE AND IT'S A BIT TEDIOUS TO FIND PARTS FOR IT !!! Good luck friend

Thanks Carlos! Yes great info! I’m looking for a set for rocker arms for a 1986 bj73 with rotary pump which has the small adjusters. Thanks again for the clarification!! Dave

Also watch out for later 3Bii rocker arms, which are made from alloy with hardened steel inserts where they touch the pushrods. As Carlos says, many different arms!

I don't know for sure as I have never had an old 3B engine, but I am generally of the opinion that 3BII-specific parts wil not retro-fit a 3B.

I just measured, the 3Bii rocker shaft is 18.5 mm in diameter. Can you asure yours?

I have an early 3b and late 3b exhaust rocker arms and they both measure 18.4mm. I’m going to say that’s the same diameter shaft size. The late 3b is much beefier piece and has two oil holes whereas the early only has one. They both look like they will strike the valves at the same spot. The only difference is the oil holes and the 8mm adjuster on the early arms vs 6mm on late arms… they both fit in the pushrod profile but I don’t really know if the pushrods are different …
