Hey guys, Taking a flyer here but I’m looking to make an upgrade to my electric fan and shroud setup as well as a new fan controller on my 350 SBC in my 40. I’m not an expert on this, but if anyone is on here is proficient at this work and interested in coming to my house and helping me with that upgrade let me know. I’ve got a Spal fan now but want to upgrade it to a Derale with a higher CFM (engine tends to run hot as the fan I’ve got now doesn’t have enough CFMs to keep the temp dialed in) and additionally put in a new Dakota Digital fan controller to match up with my Dakota Digital gauge cluster. If anyone has some cooling system and electrical expertise and some time on their hands I’m willing to pay well to get it upgraded. I’m in South Charlotte near Southpark mall. Let me know. Thanks a bunch.

What did you end up doing? I have the same issue, mine just gradually keeps getting hotter, and I have swapped everything except the fan, so I am looking to change the fan and shroud.

I put a radiator designed for a Chevy 350 swap into a CJ in my FJ40 - worked like a champ, never overheated. You can buy them now with built in fans. I used a Cadillac fan with a heavy duty clutch. Was simple to fab a mount with angle iron. One thing to look out for is to get a lower radiator hose with a spring in it so that it does not get sucked flat by the water pump.

It may also be that you do not have enough radiator. I've swapped a bunch of 60s and 80s and use Ron Davis radiators with twin Spal fans and DD controllers. Fans generally cut out above 35 MPH because the radiator is doing the job on it's own.
