Hi All,

just a quick question to ask if anyone is running the above size tyre on their Gen 2 4Runner/Surf with the fiberglass arches? If so... do the tyres protrude outside the arches? as this is something I want to avoid.

Thanks
PJ

I'd be mounting them on the Std wheels... from what I gather the offset is 8.... but the thing is the wheel doesn't specifically state plus or minus 8 for the offset.

Does this help at all?

Thanks for your help as it is appreciated.

regards
Harv.

offset of 8? unless thats in cm, id say thats the width.

Fenders really arent the problem with larger tires, its the pinch weld at the floor boards, If you pound those back, remove running boards, and maybe trim a tiny bit off the fender at the rear bottom, you shold be able to fit 33's. But if you wheel, just get some 33x10.5's or 32x11.5's.

I used to run this size tyre on my Surf. If you have a 2.4 I would stop at 11.5'' wide. 12.5's float about on the road and the engine struggles. If you have a 3 litre it won't be so bad.

They don't protrude past the arches.

Are you a member on www.hiluxsurf.co.uk ? you'll have lots of answers on there.

EDIT - just checked - you have joined and you have a 3 litre - ahh, no secrets on the web eh?

LOL... you're right there!

Glad to read they won't protrude, but thinking about it further, I think i'll either get some 32x11.50s or upgrade to 16" wheels and put on some 285x16... haven't made my mind up though....

I'm not after the tallest 4by, just a great tourer and always thought, prior to last year that a 32" tyre was the best

as a complete tagent option... what's the metric equivalent of the 33x9.50x15 tyre? I've seen a Wildcat SXT which is a great compromise between an AT and a MT tyre of this size and there are benefits to a more narrow tire....

Here is what i am running on my diesel 4 Runner:

285/75/17 a true 34 by 11 with OEM FJ Cruiser steel wheels

2" ball joint spacers and OME springs and t bars
