I saw this restoration from Proffitts Cruisers with a spring over and with 35" tiers and it looks pretty good. I think 35's the way to go. Here is the link to some pictures. Frame Off Full Resto Sorry , I dont know how to put the picture on this thread.

Although Proffitts told me that the 35's on this FJ 40 will not rubb when making turnes and the turning radius was not reduced.

here are some pics i scanned from an old magazine.
"NorCal Marauders" are they still around ??

Tire size is only relative....remember when a 33" was big and 31 was average?...Seems like any size tire can be run on the road daily with ease along with the right setup.

...Take a look at the haul trucks today...they are running 6' plus tall tires and running 55MPH down dirt roads while the operator is drinking coffie and watching his rear view TV...and only a slight bit of pressure held to the steering wheel.

I know...I'm sorry...I had to bring equipment into this...d;-)

Nice ads by the way!...I have to get my old paperback trails out now...the wife will not see me for days now...

This is a 40 I had a few years back on 305/70R16 (essentially 33s). I liked it, but it did better with the 36s I went to later.
