Im not allowed in the shop for anything less than pulling some drive parts. Dad let me fiz my birfields in there, and then decided i was to messy, so alot of mine will be done outside to.

What kind of truck is that in the background (not the yota the brown one) is it a dodge or chevy?

that my son is a 1946 one ton dodge truck, not a power wagon.
and it came stock with the regular bed on it. I have only seen (on the net) one other like it.

It is my favorite over anything else parked in the drive.
I need to replace the wheel cylinders for the brakes.
the motor is stock and runs better then most new motors that I have. took me 3 years to find it and it only had 18,000 on the speedo.

lol.. after 3 years I found it only 17 miles away.

Why use a different engine than the 22R?

NS

x2.

I like a 22R/E so much, I would build my truck around it.

I like Toyota axles so much, I would build my truck around them.

IOWs, I know there limits. But what I want is to keep them alive so at the present time I'm not interested in building a truck outside there limits.

Later, when I want something to do more that it is designed to, I'll make a customized truck.

I like sleepers....

you will just have to trust me................................... I spent over an hour typing in ghost stories about that old truck. I have done this before and like then the ghost in the machine ate it.
I often feel the owner of that truck looking over me. making sure that I don't fawk it up... I am not going to even try to type in all the things that I did...
the owner ghost, told me to stop at one pump of grease at the water pump zerk..
I talked to a patient that started dodge town in rapid city..
he said the very same thing. about the one pump of grease.
I am a ghost believer. the guy ( I don''t have clue who).
I feel him every time that I am working on the truck.

shait this sucks because I spent over an hour typing in the ghost in the machine... really cool stuff.
any ways I feel the owner there looking over my shoulder any time I do anything to this truck.
the one pump of grease for the water pump was confirmed by one of my patients.
the ghost is very clear, very direct on what needs to be done. it also is honest, (I don't know how but you have to fix this,,, or that).
the ghost reminds me of hank hill in the cartoon.
I would love and would pay bucks for a picture of the guy that bought this truck...... no shait, I have the build sheet but no buyer is listed.

It is to bad the original post was eaten. I have really felt this guy looking after his truck.

my boyfriend has a tip that he did to his 86' 4 runner, he doesnt get perfect steering radius, but he hasnt broken a birf (knock on wood) he unbolted the steering stops out of the knuckle so the back of the bolt is flush with the peice its screwed into. straighten out the steering stops that are welded to the axle. and weld in a bolt to strengthen it. this way it doesnt allow you to turn all the way so it puts less pressure on the birfeilds. i thought i had a picture but its on a different computer.:p

I understand where you are coming from chels. But I like my turning radius, and whats bad is my old full size had a better turning radius than my Toy...

Nikon and Hilux, the more i think about it the more i agree. Why have an surplus of power in a vehicle that weighs in at a quarter of a V8 rig? I love my axles, but would like Portals eventually, but thats what im trying to go to school for :)

Missouri, I know what you mena by 'ghost'. We have a 40's chevy 1 ton. Excellent condition, but not near as nice as yours!

The engine was completely redone 23 years ago by one of the few mechanics I trust, and the title has traded hands many times since then, but no one would ever get farther than handing the title back or selling to someone else. The reason being, it wouldnt start. This happened just a month or so after they redid the engine. 23 years later my Grandpa decided to restore it, and to this day its runs for only 1 person. My dad. I do not ask questions, I do not dare 'jinx' it. A truck that hadnt ran in 23 years started, first try, drove itself up on the trailer, and unloaded itselft on 23 yr old gas.

I believe in Ghosts.

good point, a nut for a 9/16th's bolt fits inside the stop on the axle. I used it on both of our trucks. the hydro assist was bending them. after I tacked the nut in there no more problems.
my wife just could not get the (once it is turned all the way) stop turning. so I put a 4 inch steering ram on her's. it cut down the travel by about 3/4 of an inch. with skys steering arms the tie rod travel is 4.5 to 5 inches. depending on the stops.

Wow, I've gotta say, I LOVE that bumper! Very clean, very tidy and very solid looking

After I finish my engine I'll have to learn how to weld...

NS

I would recommend a night class at a local community college.
I took one, was a welder for about 2 years. then got out of it for about 15 years. I was kinda shocked at how bad of a welder I was after that time. took anouther night class and it all came back.

Missouri man I was refering to this picture, apparently you havent cut your fenders in it. I dont plan on cutting them anytime soon, and ill hack the side of the bumper when i do.

I absolutely hate open body lines, no offense, but getting rid of the front of your bed like that kinda looks tacky in my opinion, but thats my opinion so pay no heed. I just got done hauling the rest of the hay for about a week or so, next week we get 4800 more bales so Ill get a really good pay check!

MM, are those 36s?

After talking with my Father and thinking for a couple o' days, i've decided lockers, front and rear. 519.73 from Aussie. Gonna press order 2morrow or friday when i have time. Im pumped!
