Just turned over 300k today!

I’m almost there. Most likely going to need a transmission first. 😞 🤷🏻

Well technically I’m there already. Just the fact the odometer doesn’t say so.

It's funny, when we sold our 2008 with 296k to a neighbor, we had it checked over by our mechanic, they had it checked over by theirs. Generally clean bill of health, leaky steering rack, leaking front Billstein 6112. Sold at a good price ($13k, decent build w/bumper, winch, sliders, lift, fairly new K02s, little to no rust). Less than a month later and almost at 300k, it needed a transmission.

2008 with 330k. Valley plate leak, consumes a little oil. Just monitor, top off fluids and keep on trucking. Needs new rocker panels to pass inspection. Transmission seems fine but now worried. 😬

To be fair it’s my fault if my transmission dies.

I have not checked fluid level in 100,000 miles.. it was a quart low.

Awesome; very promising that I'm waiting to take delivery of my LC. Any major issues along the way or just routine maintenance?

At almost exactly 300k, I developed a random misfire on cylinder 6. Last week, I replaced all the plugs, and the coil pack on #6, and am still getting the random issue. None of the plugs looked bad at all, but they got replaced with new Denso Iridium plugs anyway.

Usually when it happens, I get a shudder at startup when it's cold, which will trigger the misfire code unless I kill it as soon as I notice the shudder. I kill it, restart it, and it's fine. Just clear the code if it pops up, and it doesn't give me any more trouble. The worry I have is that I'm gonna need to replace the headgasket (and #6 is right by the infamous valley plate leak), so I'm gonna test all the coil packs, and get a borescope to see if it's looking wet inside the cylinder. Really hoping that I just got a bum coil pack the other day. No overheating issues or missing coolant to speak of, so really hoping for that to be the case.

Other than what seems to be a common 300k issue, it's been just regular maintenance keeping her going strong.

I feel like I’ve seen discussion that latent coolant changes are at fault, but does this seem to be isolated to any certain model years? Or are we looking at something that should be changed at the (for example) 10 year/250k mark?

Really glad to hear the car has been rock solid otherwise. Coming from a 2018 E63; car was great but 2 rear main seals in 2 1/2 years (especially when I didn’t drive it thru the winter) was a deal breaker.

Wow, this is an awesome milestone for you! I have 246,000 miles on my 2008, and to my knowledge, it has only had the radiator replaced.

Considering and comparing against other vehicles with similar mileage, these things are just built right

Have you ruled out head gasket failure?
