Anyone got any info on the G2 birfield kits? Any red flags you know of? They seem to have a nice warranty and of good price.

They're literally the old Dirty 30's rebranded, using TransAmerican's typical approach of not developing their own stuff and instead copying or buying the design from someone else. In this case they picked up the Dirty 30's Trail Gear was having made by EMPI after TG bought Longfield. I got a set off of Craigslist for uber cheap NIB and they are a dead ringer for Dirty 30's.

Taking politics and personal feelings out of it they're not a bad product, they're not as good as the competition and the company can be a hassle to deal with, putting politics and personal feelings back into there are several companies out there that are genuine supporters of our sport, G2's parent company is the Devil with a capital D.

Trail Gear has cleaned up their act and I've heard the new Longfield's are good stuff. Nitro is always good and if you want to go deep with the money you can always contact RCV.

No, I'm not opinionated.

I picked up the Nitro axles and birfs from Metal Tech on ebay for a steal a while back. Had to call them to make sure I was seeing it right. Have many wheeling trips on them. Glad I got them vs stock.

I have been modifying my front axle and so one inner axle has to be a custom width(I lengthened the short side). Trail gear has a fair price for a whole 30 splinekit. And they have a axle shaft for one of their custom housings that would work for mine in stock for a good price. I asked em if I could get the kit price but get that other axle shaft with it swapped into the kit-no dice, they were pretty firm about it too. I was a little miffed. Whatever. Anyway, I think I will buy their inner axle seperate, then buy a rcv birf to go to that shaft because their birfs seem better. Then just keep the other side stock for now until I break one or two and hopefully have more saved up. The G2 kit is a good price, and I thought about just getting one of their birfields, but for 40 bucks more I can get a RCV birf. Hopefully eventually I will do the same on the other side. Any thoughts?

I'm sure that would work, but I don't think price shopping driveline parts is really where the happy sauce is . The only reason why I have G2's is because they were $100!!!! :bounce::clap::rainbow::beer: I'll just roll with a spare and with the off chance I break them I'll just pony up the big bucks and get the good stuff.

Honestly if you're already looking at RCV birfs just go all in and buy them there, or if not RCV give Nitro a call and get everything in one place, you'll be happier. RCV used to make Longfields before Bobby Long died if that tells you anything about that company....

The inner axle from TG I can't find it anywhere else. And its a good price and I doubt I will break it with my 2f go pedal. Its 120 for the inner shaft. G2 30 spline birfs are 149 a piece. RCV's are 189 and come with chromo hub gears and have the 300M star. The G2 27 splines are 125 a piece-but then I have to have a custom inner 27 spline made-190 bucks or so. So it all comes close in price, so for the money it makes sense to go 30 spline. Im just upgrading one side right now. If I go all in I get burned out and so do my finances.
