Sections of the frame have that look of steel that has been submerged for a long time. Swollen and flaking. Great progress! Does the full-floater rear axle have a cable locker by chance?

Definetely swollen and flaking, but I don't think it was submerged. It had been sitting in the same spot for about 10 years until I came along :)

No, the full foater rear axle does not have a cable locker.

Thanks, Matt

FWIW I saw that Cruiserparts.net has an 83 45 frame listed on thier website. I think they were asking a mint for it though, something like $1800...

I did call on that one about 3 weeks ago.....gone. I kinda didn't want it just for the fact that from my understanding pre 78 frames and 79+ frames are different.

There would have be some frame mods to bolt my stuff in. Hoping to get the same thing.

Thanks for thinking of me though, Matt

Hi Matt,

Looks like some great progress this weekend. At this rate, you will probably be done before the first snow falls. I hope you don't finish it too quickly, then what would I have to look forward too.

That cab looks kind of funny sitting on that stand. I can't help but smile when I look at those pictures. It looks like some sort of cartoon character or something. Maybe I am going crazy.

I hope you don't mind that I modified one of your pictures, but it was a perfect opportunity to ask a question that I have been wondering about. What is the purpose of the 8 bolts on the back of the cab on these trucks?

I'm sure glad you found your LPB, or should I say LP-KK.

Got about 3 hours in on the lpb tonight. Had to fix a little on some tin and get some primer and paint on.

Pics pretty much say it all. Lower radiator shield had ripped out in a couple spots. Welded new steel in there, nothing special. Hung up as much as I could fit in the booth and started painting. I'll have another batch tomorrow of stuff I sandblasted on Sunday. Want to get primer and paint on that bare steel as soon as possible.

Oh....by the way...did I mention I still need a frame :frown:

To be honest I'm not exactly sure what those bolts are for? I haven't dug that far into the cab yet to find out.....I'm sure I will eventually :)

If I was to make a quick guess i would think they were some sort of alignment bolts when it came down the assembly line. Toyota might have bolted the cab together on the line and then spot welded to ensure accuracy and simplify assembly?

Just a guess though, Matt

Not that it won't be great, as we have seen with the LV, but how exactly does this thread already have a five star rating? :)

Got a little done on the lv tonight, but not much. About 1.5 I suppose.

I had those other parts I had blasted from last weekend that still needed to get into paint, and that's what I did. Hung what I had up done, DP90LF for the first couple coats and 2 coats of MTK single stage.

Have a few honey do things to do the next few nights, thinking I might move onto the motor. Get that presure washed and then I'm going to try to blast the motor (assembled) with sodium bi-carbonate. Never heard of this being done, but I think it will work good and won't be a hazzard to an assembled motor like I think silica sand would.....just in case a grain or 2 migrated it's way in?
