My 98 Land Cruiser engine finally called it quits after 550,000 miles looking for a reliable source for a rebuilt engine. Any recommendations?

Might make more economical sense to source a good used engine. I have seen low mileage engines that have been imported from Japan for sale here in the states.
Poke around 2001LC's threads, he's had to source some used motors. You can also look at Tundra/Sequoia motors, requires swapping some things from your motor.

What exactly called it quits? Did you compression check?
Tundra/Sequoia 4.7's made in the states do not have forged crankshafts like their Japanese made counterparts but still robust emgines. I believe the oil pan is one of the parts that needs to be swapped out.

In that case it might not need to be rebuilt. Just machine heads and replace headgaskets.
It was the rods that were supposedly forged vs. cast and even that's been shown to be unlikely.
@Zjohnsonua with Rocket City Cruisers can take care of you. They've rebuilt plenty of 2UZs. I've used them in full restorations where we swap in their rebuilt 2UZ.
highly recommend a used motor , it will be 1/3 the cost of a rebuild

Happy to build one, but you're going to be ahead of the game cost-wise to grab a used unit from a sequoia and swap your pans and accessories over.
Sequoia is generally a mom-mobile, so odds are to have gotten an engine that saw a more gentle life. 4runner, gx, Sequoia, tundra, LC...all are potential options for a good long block.
