what would it take to get a 2UZ-FE into 60?
Toyota UZ engine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I know a r151 5spd trans has already been bolted up to one for a mini truck project.

Wiring? that just takes time?

how tall/long are uz engine's?

what do you guys know about these things? seems like it could be a good swap

I planning ahead for next years winter project :grinpimp:

Just switch the bodies. I am considering doing it with an HJ81 with the 1dt-t.

Are you talking about a 1HD-T I6 diesel?

I'm talking V8 petrol.

Yeah I was talking about the diesel for my rig, but was saying you could put a 60 body on a 2uz drivetrain and frame. If that is possible.

2UZ where found under 100's,sequoia's and tundra's. an engine transplant will probably be less work.

Im a newb, but people have responeded to me about this with

"why don't you try something really hard....."

You'd be the one of the first with an "all Toyota" V8 swap.

I have a few friends that have done stuff like this before and are chomping at the bit to give it a try.

I just gotta do my research and save some change for a rolled rig.

Sounds like a great project. Please keep us informed of your progress and research findings.

My personal vehicle preference and hobby is combining classic bodies with modern drivetrains. So I am wishing you fun and creativity and hoping you will share the experience!

Anythings possible, but the one person that I know that has used that motor in a Buggy swapped it out for a warmed over 302 (347) for more power.

a Buggy is totally different animal then a 60series, but you know that already.

a warmed up 302 would be cool, but I don't want to listen to the cam/exhaust noise for 8-10 hours on the trail. same reason I don't want to go diesel. I would take a 302 over a SBC anyday though.

I guess I'm asking if anyone has any knowledge of these engines. not opinions.

Keep us posted on the feasibility of this. I had a chance at a Tundra that had been rolled for $5300. It would still drive..all body damage. I'm not ready yet but would like to know if it can be done with reasonable effort.

I wish I had that 55. I saw that thing in person when I lived in Va it was not done but it was still way sick. If you want V8 power I would vote for a TBI 350 with a 700R4. Easy n cheap.Relatively speaking. But since you'd rather have a ford I'd go with 351 windsor. Great motor good power and light or a 302. I never really have been to impressed with Ford electronics though. If you put a nice quite mufler you really wouldn't have to worry about it being to lowd.Ever ride in the back seat of a stock crown vic? Not really very noisy at all.If you just want the cool factor all Toyota is indeed cool, however more power for cheaper is also cool. Just my 2 cents.
