Hi, I'm thinking about replacing the stock alternator on my LJ70 (with the 2L engine) with a more powerful one. It seems there’s nothing available on the market; do you know of any 70–80 amp alternator that is compatible?

I am not aware of any such animal. I've seen this question posted before. Most people want a winch or brighter lights, hence want more amps. I'm pretty sure that stock alternator is capable of doing most things within reason. I had mine re-built when I purchased my LJ70 and it has never missed a beat.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, my alternator is 41 years old and has never let me down. I’m just trying to find one with higher amperage to charge the lithium battery in the back and power a good audio system, but I haven't seen any alternatives to the stock 55A unit.
