Thanks LC Freak for the 'local tip'--good to know who can do this locally--didn't want to 'try out 'a shop to be dissapointed/stuck somewhere due to bad work!

Lost Marbles--good to hear another vac pump story-I've worked on commercial vac pumps that have worn or sheared a vane--so you might say some bad commercial experiences tainted my perspective on the LC pumps. My daughter has wanted to come down to the great land of NZ--might be down your way in 6 months to a year-will see how the $$ works out.

BBDog--Thanks--I have an e-mail to both companies to see if they still carry them.

LC's--starting to see why this can be a 'disease'--just want to work on it and not get my house projects done or go into work some days!! Haven't even had a chance to get it muddy yet...! Got to stay focused on priorities--

I have a used 24v altenator c/w vacuum pump $300 + shipping if you want it.

The ones I have are PN
29300-56070 which ToyoDIY says fits...
('8411-'8808)13BT,3B ; ('8808-   )13BT

I don't know why that PN isn't the same for 2Hs but the outlets may face the wrong way or something.

Thanks David--I have an e-mail into them as they sent me a note saying they have a 30amp, so will try for that for a few more amps, once I hear back.

I tried on the phone--that was pretty interesting...

Thanks!!

Thanks everyone: I tried Roodogs and Ashdown Ingrams in AUS and found neither carried the 24V style--12V 2H units were common, but not the 24V.

Jan--if you have a 24V unit, the only source I've seen for a new alt/vac pump is Europe, at the link noted above from David.

You would have to get Ashdowns or A.E.D. to order you one in from the supplier. They carry the 24V Nissan Patrol and Mitsubishi alternators with vacuum pumps but the 24 volt Toyota alternator is only on grey imports in Oz. However that European alternator at US$122.12 is unbelievably cheap, a vacuum pump by itself would cost more here.cheers

BBD--you are right about the Euro price--so far the part number I have online doesn't quite match there's, so will wait and pull my alt, which is extra work with the AC unit over the top of it, in order to see the numbers and if Toy or Denso product--tried a mirror and too small and dirty to see well enough--almost was going to order anyways--but think it smarter to be sure before ordering just in case--YES, the Euro option definitely looks right with both the alt/vac pump on a 'new' unit rather than rebuilt-with freight about $200 US-can't get a used one in the states for that.

The clocking of the attachment bolts looks right and what he has listed for fitting looks right also, even though it does not list the B engines. I have 3 faulty 12 volt and one good exterior regulator alternators in my junk box but being 12V the part numbers will not tally with the 24v alternator.

Here you BBD--it does look right on--just need to verify part numbers before getting the $ on the table--but need to wait till my sons 4Runner engine rebuild is done in a month so I can have the shop back and then do a bunch of stuff all at once--need to pull the A/c off to get the alt off--bother.
Take care,

24V 2H parts

Any Toyota dealer in Canada or just specific larger dealers?
Thanks again!
MG

Dunno if all dealers have access to 2H parts but I would suppose they do as 2H equipped trucks were sold across the country.

I simply called my local dealer (pretty average size dealership) and supplied them with past numbers and the parts came in the next day. I understand Toyotas main wharehouse for parts is in Toronto, Ontario.

You need to give them exact part number though, if you want to facilitate the procedure quite a bit.

My be worth giving a try before ordering from Europe or something...

Good luck!

Marc.

Cheers, It is not necessary to take the compressor off. Remove battery cable. The adjustment bolt is straight under the air con compressor and the bracket bolt is easily accessible and the nut on the end just needs a ring spanner on it to stop it turning while using a socket on the bolt.
Disconnect the wire when the adjustment bolt is out and you swing the alternator down. Then remove bracket bolt and nut. cheers
