I have an '85 FJ60 with the 2F... has a TBI installed. TBI installed by a prior owner, don't know much about it. It's been running pretty well, but this morning I went to start it. Turns over but wont start until I give it some throttle. After that it might idle pretty stable at 800-900 rpm for 10-15 seconds, then becomes unstable and stalls out. I feel like its some kind of fuel starvation issue. Any tips for this issue? The only change I've made recently was to turn the idle screw out slightly for higher idle speed. And I mean very slightly.

I’ll just throw the easy suggestion out there first: Replace the fuel filter and see if that helps.
After that - maybe get suspicious of the fuel pump

Check your fuel pressure or just replace the pump. TBI systems are pretty simple, but like all EFI systems, they require correct and stable fuel pressure. If the pump doesn't fix it, then you now have a spare, which you should have anyway ;)
