2F vs. 3F Spark Plug Wires

They should, provided the cord from the Igniter/Coil is long enough, but the 3F Plug boots will be straight, not angled like the stock ones.

NGK does make a nice aftermarket cord set with the angled boots and 8mm wire.

They are nice, the angled boots might fit better than the straight

@TRFarmers

Those 'SEIWA' brand wires ... SEIWA is a subsidiary of Yazaki. ;)

I think there's no 'Angled' type for the non-usa 2F because only the USA got those big-cap electronic dissys.

@Spike Strip

One of the reasons I love this forum and being a Land Cruiser owner is learning. I've owned/worked on them for 36 years and I'm constantly learning. Thank you for teaching me something new!

With that being said, I'm planning to put this plugs on a non USA 2F dissy as we are desmoging an FJ60. Does it make more sense to stick with the NGK or go the SEIWA route?

I've read up on all the neat tech around desmogging the vacuum lines and the changes in the advancement on the distributor, but I haven't seen anything on plugs per say as it pertains to desmogging a 2F (perhaps because it doesn't matter).

Hi All

The 2F spark plug wires are NLA from Toyota. Would 3F spark plug wires work in a 1987 FJ60. Not 3FE, but 3F spark plug wires. I don't know enough about the difference between a 3F and 2F dizzy or spark plugs to tell the difference.

The difference between the now NLA 90919-21325 and the available 90919-21451 is more than just the coil wire, in fact nearly all wire lengths are different (~20-50mm longer on FJ62) but the FJ62 coil wire is ~85mm shorter (505 vs 590). The plug wires will work, the coil wire is the hangup but there are other OE solutions for the coil wire if you are willing to mix/match or want to get the plug wires closer to factory length.

I’d like to see proof that SEIWA is a Yazaki subsidiary.

I can't say I've ever heard that but I've not dug into it either. We get regular SEIWA shipments from Japan, I'll see if the boxes or BOL have any clues there. Now, SEIWA is an OE manufacture for Toyota on some level, but I'm not clear on any affiliation they have with Yazaki. I'd love to hear more.

We stock ~10 different SEIWA part numbers to cover 'most' of the popular cord sets but sadly they do not offer a direct replacment for the 90919-21325, yet. We are working on that solution and an earlyer 4x/55 variant.

Nothing that woild shed a light on a Yazaki Japan connection on any of these boxes.

The person I got the information from also does a lot of direct business with Japanese suppliers, but since he's Persona non grata on this site I didn't respond since there are lurkers who would just mock it, and I didn't feel like turning this into a tit for tat discussion.

I'll ask and see where he got that info.

But it's kind of moot anyway, cuz I have used those wires and the quality is as good as the Yazaki. If they would be willing to make a US spec version for fj60s that would be awesome.

That is a work in progress!
