2F oil pressure at 60 pounds???

So in reading up on this I read that excessive oil pressure is caused usually by blocked oil filter (checked), blocked oil gallery or wrong grade of oil. I pulled the valve cover and there is oil flowing but it doesn't seem to be as much as the truck I saw at the mechanics shop that had a fresh rebuilt 2F. The other thing I noticed was that when the mechanic did my oil pan gasket he allegedly did and oil change. I did get a new filter but when I was checking the valves the oil that was standing was really black. So I checked the oil in the oil drain pan and it looked like it had been in the motor for a couple of years it was so black. I'm getting a new test gauge tomorrow, new gauge for the cluster and going to drain oil and replace with oil that I know the grade of.

I managed to find a brand new Toyota oil pressure gauge, bought it, installed it and when I fired the truck up the brand new gauge pegged all the way to the right. The only thing that isn't new is the oil pump which I have a new one sitting on my bench. The only other thing I can think of is clogged journals which I think would require an engine flush.

Sloan, somewhere on this forum [dont ask me where, I don't remember] there's a pic of the open 'belly of the beast. ' You need to find it and look at the oil pump connections.

I saw this 'scenario' played out at ORU many years ago. They called me in to diagnose a pegged guage on a freshly rebuilt motor.

Did you know that the RETURN hole is RIGHT next to the DELIVERY hole?

:hhmm:

Did you know that an oil pressure sending unit has an arrow on it and that arrow needs to point up? Just doing this has dropped my gauge reading from pegged down to pointing straight up.
