let's put it this way - if you had the opportunity to purchase the exact same vehicle in either 12v or 24v, which would you choose?

Keep this in mind, Brendan. People on this forum and others like the DTLC, LCML, etc. are likely to argue that whatever they own is the best since they own it ;)

Mac or PC?
HD DVD or BluRay?

I love my 12 volt bj70, I'm used to working on that type of system and bulbs are avaliable locally.

The 24 volt system on the other hand is a diferent animal. It's teaching me a lot, most of this is due to the po's wiring mess though. Once I got the glow plug system working properly I noticed one of the benifits of 24v... it starts lots quicker than my 12 volt system. I'm geting excited to see how a 24v winch will act. I plan on installing a solarconverter from g&s in the near future also.

One of these days I'll probably try to trade my 85 bj70 for an 86 or 87. It would sure be nice to only have to keep one flavor of starter, alt, glow plugs-timer-relay and voltage regulator for spares.

my 2 cents

If I was considering a new cruiser, the 24v12v issue would be a long way down my wish list.
There are no real issues with the 12v system and everything you add on is plug and play.
