Might sound stupid..did u adjust the clutch yet? Or does it not move when the engine is off also?

Not stupid at all. Lol how do I adjust my clutch? Never herd that before?? The 4 wd shifter will not budge an inch no matter what I do.

Just 4WD? Or you cannot shift at all (transmission too)?

First thing to do is to bleed the clutch. Then the adjustment specs are in the FSM.

Could also be that you have the shifter in backwards. I know I did that once.

I've put the shifter in backwards, too.
It happens.
My first test would be to pull the shifter, and see if you can engage the shift rails with a screwdriver.
Just remember that 2WD is when the gaps form a square in the front.

I can shift 1-5 fine my 4wd shifter won't budge at all. If it was in backwards wouldn't my 4wd shifter be were my main shifter used to be??

I don't think your shifter is in backwards, I think you missed the hole that the shifter should be in. Pull the shifter out and push both the rails forward with a screwdriver, and make sure you get the end of the shifter into the hole that the 2 rails make.

So the shifter on my 1980 hits the transfer shifter in 2- 4-R. I've tried flipping the shifter 180, by pulling the 4 bolts, but nothing changed. Can i flip the shifter in the cap to angle it back more? Just bought the truck a month ago, think it has a L50/52 5sp.. Came w/ an extra shifter under the seat that has 2 bends in it, thinking I might cut off the one that fits in the transmission and weld the other stick on. Anyone have a picture of an L series with the right shifter in it?

Went to u-pull-it and got some shifters out of a 94. Transfer is offset to the right and trans. lever is to the left. Everything thing seems to clear now. Sweet going wheeling on thanksgiving.
