22R carb question and intro

Oreillys has it reman (HLY 64-9232 360.00), and i searched for that circular dilly ma bob for ever. Ended up finding it, but its on nation wide back order. atleast Now it starts in the morning!
 
well that might werk.

the one i took apart felt like the springy thingy came loose from the rod a bob thing and it was no worky.

I love the technical detail in this thread. :lol:

digging up an old thread here but I too have the same issue on a 89 2wd 22r toyota.

freezing cold out and if I manually floor the throttle from inside the engine compartment the choke will not close. Like there's no spring to it.

Common sense tells me it's the spring inside the riveted in choke that's not pulling it closed..??? Stupid sense tells me this because I took out the screws from the diaphragm and then realized it's not coming out so I had to finess it back in…. didne seem right….

The problem then is that the step up plate won't engage so then I have to keep my foot on the throttle until it's warm of it'll die out…

Sound about right to you guys? I hate to go to the extent of drilling out the rivets and according to some dealing with 9,487 parts inside the choke just to find out it's something else!!!
 
Did you get your choke working? There should only be two springs and one screw inside the choke housing after you remove the three rivets. They're really pretty simple.
