203 doubler - 88 splicase leak

what keeps the oil from travelling down the splines and out of the transfer case on a stock unit? I wonder if there's some kind of shield that removes most of the oil or creates a low pressure behind the oil... on 4 speed Super t10s, there's a speedometer gear that prevents large amounts of oil from travelling down the shaft - the rest is kept inside by a seal.... I've no idea on the dual case - but since you didn't have extra parts, I'm wondering if you're missing a part.

Is the vent on the Split tcase plugged at all?
 
Mace, vent looks good. It is tied in to the same line as both diffs and 203 going up to a small filter under the hood. I wondering if I should just revert to the old style vents (if I can still get new ones)
 
Reason I ask is that pressure usually drives a leak from the tcase. Even more so if the oil does not return. Is it clogged in the Tcase?

You could easily just add a tube between the fill on the 203 and the Tcase. That would keep them level for now.
