this is episode 1 of the weeklong adventure. for those that attended the relic run trask rode with me and did a lot of spotting and repairing on my 40. he has the 90's ford "Red". very active in the off road scene in sw mt and is one of the "boys" who has been coming out to the shop since they were all in high school. anyway, enjoy

We need to get him into an old Toyota so he comes to more events.

year number 2 is about to begin, Sam gets home i believe on the 3rd and they leave on friday. I think they head west for the meetup this year, thankfully we aren't trying to find a gearset like last year at this time

well that didn't work lol, anyway 2025 unreal adventure is about to begin. trask got lots of sponsorship with lots of goodstuff. he's still po'd he didn't make the 40's run but he's ready for the relic run with a first gen pu he found.

Sam got home about 3am Monday morning, sounds like it was another good one. their only damage was a radiator so pretty minor. We'll get to see a 14 bolt ford rearend bent into a u. they were able to straighten it out so the guy was able to continue. this years trip i believe started around coos bay oregon and must have went into washington then ended around bend oregon. i'll add videos as they come out

Here we go, episode 1. they said when the 14 bolt housing got bent it was pretty neat to see but they were sure glad it wasn't them. got it straightened out that day and caught back up with the group I believe.

Looking forward to Ep2, good to see a couple Toyotas in the group.

Trasks truck looks awesome with the trail-bed.
evidently he got lots of compliments on the trail bed from the pro's. for something that looks so simple to build it was a challenge to do it right. we initially figured 1-2 weeks of after work and it ended up being at least a month. went thru almost a full 33 pound roll of wire. he def learned how to use the bender. sure has been enjoyable watching the boys in hs doing some sketch projects but always hopefully made sure they wouldn't kill themselve to now they are all turning out almost pro grade quality projects.

In my Dad's shop there was a scrap pile for wood and one for metal, and anything in the scrap piles was fair game for any projects I wanted to do. If I needed something more significant I had to ask, but there was always good material in the scrap piles. All of the hand tools were fair game. The only rule was that I had to put everything back when I was done. Power tools needed supervision until I was old enough.

Give a kid a space to work, some tools, materials to work with, and just enough help to keep them from doing anything too dumb. I don't know that I could possibly quantify the impact of having access to my Dad's shop as a kid. I just know that I wouldn't be where I am today without it.
