Got a 2017 LX570 with 65K miles and I'm trying to find a shop to perform a transmission fluid flush, but have no luck. Located in Houston, Texas area. Two different advisers at two Lexus dealerships advised me it's "lifetime" fluid and it's a sealed transmission. Through a couple of searches I found Weber State University instructional video of how to perform the service without opening the transmission case (see blow). Interested to know if anyone had their fluid replaced in this manner?

Don’t trust a Lexus trained technician? I’ll bet most of the problems with transmissions come from inexperienced owners doing it themselves.

To answer your question Lexus dealerships= Lexus trained, won’t perform the service at all, meaning they can’t do it.

That's weird. If I go on the owner's website and look at the maintenance schedule some of the intervals have an option to "Replace Transmission Fluid or Oil" if the vehicle has been towing, using a top-carrier, or under heavy load. That would lead me to believe it can be done so someone somewhere is in error.

The Lexus dealerships I've called don't know what the active height control fluid is and certainly I have been explained how the transmission fluid is a "lifetime" and they don't replace the transmission fluid. My understanding is that lifetime is warranty period and their bet is wait for transmission issues for higher paying service. If anyone knows a shop in Houston area capable of replacing the fluid do let me know. I would hate to perform myself since the overflow valve requires some specific temperature, I know there is a workaround to connect a wire within the OSB connector and moving the shifter, but it seems super primitive.

Clearchoice Lexus.
Thank me later.

check some local Toyota dealerships, explain you’ve had bad experiences with the local Lexus dealers. Never known a Toyota dealership to not accept money.

Won’t do a transmission flush with other. Thanks trying and called them.

Wtf, theres no way they declined a trans drain and fill at 65k…

Sorry man, that place is usually top notch and are the only shop that will work on ahc. Including my rust bucket 470.

Must have gotten the covid curse like everything else on the planet…

*long sigh*

Definitely do no do this though. Sorry. Toyota knows less about j200 than any lexus dealer. By a huge margin.

Person I spoke with was cool about it and claimed they had bad experiences with transmissions flushes. I don't think they know about the method in the video which does not require taking down the case.

Pretty sure Toyota and Lexus both use Aisin Corporation transmission system so the work should be the same.

It’s a basic transmission flush.

Just trying to help... Not looking for a circular argument on "why wont dealer do what is super duper easy and all dealers should be able to do but they wont???"

If you dont want to take my advice, im good brah! Just nothing but horror stories on the forum including my own.
Dealers know ****all. And toyota dealers barely ever seen a 200. Never mind touch the trans.

Make sure yall have them do you AHC too, so that they can stick you with a $10k bill when they break it.
Oh and make sure to find a good lawyer before hand. I have some recommendations in Houston if you need.
Oh and line up a good rental plan with your insurance company.

Good luck though. You are going to need it!

In the honesty of actually trying to help.

Call Javier’s in houston, and Bearden in austin. Both are LC specialists.

We have a very easy diy drain and fill procedure on a couple of threads too. It really is simple. If you look I pointed out the best line to pull on one of them via fsm diagram.

Get you 12qts. A graduated bucket, and its like an hour or two tops.

The temp fill level procedure IMO is not reliable on the ae80f. Even with techstream electronic thermostat actuated.

Just asked about a transmission drain and fill today for my 2017 at my local Lexus dealer in Colorado. Talked with the shop foreman while riding around in mine to diagnose some other issues. He said he won’t do it and doesn’t suggest it, at least the “spill and fill” type that they would do there if they did it. He said the transmission adjusts to the slickness of fluid that is in there or something like that.

Just posting for info only. Of course I am skeptical, but he did seem very knowledgeable on other issues I was having such as AHC etc, so he didn’t seem completely out of touch. There are a lot of 200 series lx570s in the Denver area though, so I’m sure he sees a lot of them. There were 2 others in the service line this morning alone.
