So I'm driving around the first week in the 570 thinking the rearview mirror ( after reading a few posts here) died.
I have the garage door opener / mirror dimmer combo type and they sell for like $1000. new. I'm getting concerned now. Can't see anything behind me at all with this thing. I pulled on the wires and cleaned them, played with the wiper thing next to it on the window bla bla bla. Turns out being the window tint. This tint is really dark.
I kind of don't like it.

Are the side mirrors dark too?
Make sure the small square spot on the front of the rear view mirror is clear. That is what the mirror uses to sense whether it’s daylight or night, and if it is covered or obscured it’ll think it’s night, and then with the daylight hitting the rear sensor, dim everything.

No the side mirrors are clear. I just happened to sit in the front seat and look into the rear mirror when the rear hatch was open.

Ah.. yeah. Primary mirror acting different than the others isn’t a good sign.

For a while my center mirror wasn’t dimming at night but the sides were. Covering the front sensor and shining a very bright light into the rear during attempts to diagnose it seems to have sorted it out.. for now. Maybe worth a shot.

Cover the front sensor?

Cover the rear sensor and see if anything changes.

Normal operation:
No light on either sensor = clear
Light on both sensors = clear
Dark front light rear = dimmed (takes a few seconds and is gradual)

Thing is this should dim all three mirrors..

Maybe try covering the front and putting light on the rear to see if the sides dim too. This would suggest the side mirrors, sensors and logic are working correctly. If your center mirror is the only one misbehaving I think it’s safe to say it is bad.

Just covered the rear view sensor after starting the truck in my garage. So both sensors were covered. That mirror went very dark, took my finger away and it
got brighter. Don't think the side mirrors changed at all. Covering the sensor a couple more times made the mirror darker then I hit the off and on power buttons on the mirror and nothing more covering the sensor.

This seems to be a good spot for the phone.
I've been cleaning and vacuuming the seat too much I think. The insides are coming out.

I pulled the tint off the rear hatch window, which I thought was oem. Now the rear view and side view mirrors tint while night time driving.
