Nitro Gear and Axle - Ultimate Adventure pics
This year we were fortunate enough to attend Petersen's 4 Wheel & Offroad's Ultimate Advenure. This is an annual event and has grown to be one of the most famous and renowned events. We came aboard as the official Gear & Axle Sponsor.

The event consists of a mix of Hardcore trails, to Freeway driving. This year was held in the deep south and we covered over 1500 miles through the states of Alabama, Georgia, Florida & South Carolina. This trip is the real deal. Long days of wheeling, road driving and wrenching with little time for sleep. High temps combined with high humidity, record rainfalls, and lots of bugs and mud kept this adventure "Ultimate"

This year we brought a unique vehicle. Our 1987 Land Cruiser BJ73 which was imported form Spain in mint condition, and taken apart, cut up and heavily modified with Custom Toyota based 9.5" Axles, Icon Coilovers, custom cage, links, rockers, bumbers, Hutchinson double beadlocks, 37" Nitto Trail grapplers and much more. The goal was for the truck to be capable, strong and reliable in hardcore offroad situations, and to drive nicer than stock as it will be daily driven. See this thread for more info on the build of the Nitro Gear & Axle BJ73 project "Inigo Montoya".

more pics of #ua2013

Here are some more pics of them from monday and tuesday:

Cooper from Offroad Power Products broke a Ring & Pinion in hes rear Prorock d60 in his 4bt powered JK on the very first obstacle. Unfortunately, a bad install from the last time he broke in Moab led to the premature failure.

Daytona Beach was a nice stop after we did Mud Muckers in Florida. Nice way to wash off and kill some of those tics and chiggers

Toyota says "do not exceed 30 degrees" I think we did a few times

Bubba Rope's are strong and work awesome for mudhole recoveries, except when the stuck vehicle we hooked to had a cheapo receiver mount tow hook that bent straight allowing the bubba rope to slip off and punch the bj73 in the face. At least it wasnt a person!

Very cool...I gota bribe my way on that event someday :)

Great photos, was following a few attendees on FB

Would like to know more about how the selection process takes place....how it really takes place....criteria etc. Looks like the opportunity of a lifetime.

Little to our surprise Project "Inigo" BJ73 was said to be "easily the most exotic vehicle on the trip"

Sponsors and cronies always seem to bring Jeeps so it seems really Jeep biased, but there isn't much we can do about that. If you want to go as a reader, you have a better chance in a Toyota than a Jeep simply based on the fact that we get a ton of Jeep entries! TJs with one ton axles are start to look the same after a while, where a Land Cruiser, even if it had the same running gear, would stand out. If you offer to bring a diesel BJ73 with coilovers and 37s, you are basically a shoe-in. :p
