I have an issue with the factory alarm going off randomly on my 13 LX570. It’s been to the dealer twice and their best guess is the hood latch sensor after the second visit. They recommend replacing the whole latch assembly. I’d rather not have them do it, and I’d rather not do it myself if I can avoid it.

On a past vehicle I’ve jumped the wires so the alarm thinks the hood is always closed even if it’s not. Does anyone know how to go about that on the Lexus. Wiring diagram or something. I couldn’t care less about the hood alarm. I know it’s not the doors as I replaced every sensor with an OEM Toyota part. Haha

I had the same issue with my 2013 LC 200 Diesel. I went down the same route with the hood latch. For me it was actually a few moths or other flying critters that set the alarm off. The cabin sensor is very sensitive. You can try to turn off the cabin sensor with a button in the ceiling close to the interior light. If the alarm then does not go off you might have the same issue as I had. I ran out in my underwear to see why the alarm went off a few times, and saw a moth in the car every time. Just a tip.. Can easily be the hood sensor as well of course, but easy to eliminate the cabin sensor by turning it off for a few nights and see if that helps. Just press the button after shutting down the car and before arming the alarm.

Any other odd electrical symptoms?
Any history of an aftermarket alarm install?
Zero indication it’s been modified in any way. No other electrical issues at all. It was a cream puff when we got it with only one owner and mostly dealer service.

Here’s another thread on the issue. At least one person found the problem to be a dealer or port installed alarm that no one knew about.

Firstly, standard disclaimer.. check for water in the kick panels under the door sill trim.

US 200s don’t have the motion sensor inside the vehicle so it’s unlikely to be a moth issue.

Definitely check for an aftermarket alarm.

Thanks! I checked that thread first and was hoping to find the answer there, but alas. Good troubleshooting there for sure. Unfortunately no indication of an alarm.

Interesting. I didn’t know that was a thing on the LX. Good to know. I think it goes off even when it’s been dry for a long time, but mostly I just quit locking it. It’s supposed to rain hard later today, so I’ll check. Thanks!
