Put Heather and I down as likely event crashers...Friday aft arrival, trails Saturday...BJ74 most likely (unless Heather robs a bank and gets the 200 she's been drooling over...)

If nothing else, for the @sleeoffroad Friday dinner ;)

Awesome Woody. You should take a look at the Moab gathering thread. It's the few days before this event. Not HITR, but counting on a good time!

Will get you added

Hey guys been debating on making an appearance, only thing really holding me back is I don't have sliders and still running stock suspension. Are sliders a must?

There are several trails that would be fine without sliders. The ones best with sliders and lift- you would have to be comfortable with scratching or bending your existing running boards. Pretty much any that are marked Green on the trail maps are good stock.

The trails over the mountains are the most rugged- but there are quite a few you would do fine on. However, those most likely will not be the ones we go on as a group. Example- Yankee boy basin, Last Dollar Road, Alpine Loop.

One year I saw a small car making it up a challenging trail- just picking his lines- it was pretty crazy. Must have been a rental.

I have the first two weeks of August off for vacation and will be doing a big four-corners loop. The OME lift is ordered but won't be here in time so I'm stock height and street tires for this trek. I'll be looking at routes and itinerary this weekend and will confirm if/when I'll be able to join up with the group.

Well- you should a good look at a few 200s while joining us. Might be an expensive trip for you.

I've ran most of the trails around Ouray in my FJ Cruiser except Black Bear and Poughkeepsie. I'm looking to get both of those on this trip.
For new trails, I usually like to have as much info as I can in advance. For those of you that have ran Poughkeepsie before, can you tell me if the obstacle at 4:30 on this video has a bypass. It doesn't look like anything I'd take my 200 on.

I have never done this obstacle or recall seeing it before. More than likely this is a "side" trail that loops back onto the main trail. You can see in the background when the jeep is being winched up that the main road carries on. Don't let these scare you.

At 7:45 is Poughkeepskie Wall- its pretty famous. It was dry for them so looked easier. There is a bypass for this one. I've done it twice, but didn't make it last year- I just bailed after two attempts....didn't want to break anything up there...

Ha. This was just posted to FJ Sumitt Facebook page.

Last October, while camping near Ouray, I had 2 bears enter my camp at about 2 am. I wouldn't describe it as "Awesome!".
Scared the crap out of me, was more like it.

Were they black bears? Or Grizzly bears? Blacks are not as concerning, but grizzlies can be nasty. I tent camped in the boonies of Alaska with no less than 12 grizzlies near by...but we had two 44 Magnums...and there was no one else to accidentally shoot... Way out in nowhere land on the pipeline road. My poor wife kept reading all the bear-attack stories where it's usually the female who is mauled... :)

I imagine they were Black Bears, but hard to tell in the dark. They climbed up on my buddy's 4Runner while he was sleeping in it. Luckily, they ignored my tent.

Thanks for posting... Now my wife will never tent camp again. Lol

Black bears are nothing to scoff at. They have been responsible for some maulings here in KY down at the red river gorge.
"Here bear"

No scoffing here. Just pretty easy to scare away black bears compared to Grizzlies IME. But ya, no question either one nothing to scoff at for sure.

@codyaustin5 is there room for one more on Friday all day and Saturday morning? I'll be arriving early Friday AM and will be riding solo. Thanks!
