acronyms work better - stack 1 has my vote. looks great!

Suggestion:

Love the bottom two designs. Not fond of the "Vacation" part. I think that tag inadvertently stuck in that magazine article--all from a simple comment someone made...but to me, it's a "wheeling" club. "Vacation" club sounds like Disneyland or a Cruise. We are actually WHEELING these things as they were intended to be wheeled...with wheeling damage to prove it.

So I'm wondering what y'all would think of extracting that word entirely...replace it with "wheeling."

So...'LCWC" or some such thing.

What do you think?

But again...LOVE the designs! Great work!!
Especially the bottom 2.

I agree 100%. I'm new to the 200, and it seems an outsider the platform already has a lot to prove to the rest of the LC community for it to be considered as a worthy wheeler - just like every new LC generation does. Adding "vacation club" to an event makes it sound like an elitist hangout that's more about fine dining, wine drinking and going to the spa than using the trucks. I like the designs of the stickers though so with a slight tweak to the abbreviation it would be great.

Stack 2 looks cool!

I agree with @Markuson that calling it a vacation club is not good for my street cred. :D

Couple thoughts to throw out there:

1) maybe make the LC on the sticker more modded?
2) maybe also have the LC flexing or going over something-like maybe climbing the words themselves?
2) since we are not sure of the official acronym yet, let's try to have fun with it and make it something catchy? LCDC is cool, but maybe we can make it a word. This might be tacky but something like THOR -Two Hundreds Off Road. PATH - Paradigm Altering Two Hundreds. ATHENA - Annual Two Hundreds Expedition North America.

Or just LDLC, I'm good with whatever!

NINAHC... No It's Not a HighLander Club... ;)

we are a national vs regional club .. maybe 200 LCNC - 200 Land Cruiser National Club. mods/wheeling/cool cameras and gadgets are just a given :grinpimp:

Stack 1 hands down, and I think Sandroad has a great tweak; "200 LCLX Breckenridge 2017". Put me down as a maybe. Having done the FJ Cruiser Summmit previously, this sounds great!

See post #1. It's LCDC.

Count me as 90% chance the wife and I will be going. She needs to get her schedule approved.

New to Land Cruisers (got my 2016 in October this year) and off-roading myself, but I've been around it a good bit. Living in Louisiana, you don't have much choice! Wife and her family drove from Louisiana to Breckenridge every year growing up and we've been planning to start that back up. They always went during he winter for skiing, she's always wanted to go during the summer. Perfect excuse right here.

200 is fully stock... Wife has agreed I can get one upgrade for the trip plus a roof rack and roof tent w/skirt from Frontrunner. Given stock, I'm assuming my best upgrade for this trip will be 285/65/18 BFG K02's to replace the Dunlop Grand Treks.

I'm running those same tires and you won't be disappointed.

But, I might challenge your definition of 'upgrade' here and see if we can get you tires AND sliders. To me, an upgrade could mean you're replacing something that doesn't otherwise need to be replaced. Tires, however, wear out and when replacing them, it wouldn't be an 'upgrade' per se. Sliders, on the other hand, are replacing perfectly functional running boards (albeit mall-crawling use) and would be an excellent upgrade / insurance policy.

After seeing what @ethernectar did in Ouray with stock tires (did pretty good!) as well as the factory running boards (not so much) - choose sliders if only one choice really can be made. (again, I'd argue you probably need to replace your tires anyway, so you'll get both :bounce:) Bonus - sliders are a subtle upgrade and actually give your passengers a better platform when hopping in & out.

Oh, and another 'upgrade' that isn't an upgrade - MaxTrax (or Tred1100) - especially if running stock tires ;) I'd lump these into the same category as jumper cables - you just gotta' have 'em!

Welcome to the forum - you asked for advice on 1 purchase and I'm talking you into 3 :-D

What Kevin said...

Sliders ($975 from Sleeoffroad.com) are arguably the most essential, initial upgrade you can do for wheeling. They will protect you from the most vulnerable point on your truck (door panels and below). Plastic bumpers can get scratched up too...but that becomes your next selling point for bumpers! ;)

Then see if you can sneak in a nice set of all terrains.

Personally, I would consider a nice stand-alone tent (less than 1/10th the price of a rooftop)...then use that money for sliders/tires & maybe skid plates. With that, you are protected, capable of everything we are likely to do on the trail...& safer in snow (AT tires). Even with ATs alone, your truck will transform its appearance in a really good way. Sliders enhance side impact protection too, adding another legit "talking point."

AT tires and sliders are must. I ran stock back in 2015 with both of these mods. 2016 I added skid plates and rear bumper. 2017 lift coming up. Icon introduced 3.0 coilovers for tundra. I hope to get them setup before this trip.

@Willy beamin Please start pre-trip dates and destination thread.

Congrats to the baby makers! Hope you both can still make the trip @kreiten @MScruiser

I'm good for the trip. Count me in. Let me know if I can help @codyaustin5

Thanks! I'm in forsure so long as the timing works out, baby is due in mid July so I will tentatively plan the trip and then play it by ear. I would guess August would be better for me but then again that's just a guess.

I should be in as well, family in tow.

I'd 2nd KO2s and sliders, that's all I've done so far and have run a bunch of moderate to tough trails w/out issue. But will have lift with w/ front end Tundra conversion done before Cruise Moab and this Breckenridge trip.

And re:RTT, I keep going back and forth, I find a ground tent pretty easy but like the convenience of a RTT. Torn... Also don't want that thing up on the roof all the time, nor do I want to have to close it up just to go for a run, then unpack, and repeat for multiple days. Have been looking at the Alu-cab and other hard tops that are low profile but I also don't like the idea of the entire roof rack taken up by the RTT. I dunno... And sorry, don't mean to thread-jack but the topic was mentioned and it's been too of mind!

I don't claim to have the answer...but here are the thoughts that have me deciding against the rooftop tent...after looooong thinking I wanted one...

What has convinced me to stick with a standard tent is partly what you mention...especially the part about being immobile until it's put away. If I'm operating from a multi-day camp, I'd much rather set it up...go wheeling, and return. Or...if you are set up for the night, but maybe need to make a late night run to town... what a pain it to have to empty the tent...stuff things back in the truck just to drive.

About the only time I might consider it would be in serious bear country. I tent camped in the wild areas off the dalton highway on the way to and from the Arctic Ocean. It would have been safer to camp on the roof, as we were literally within close proximity to multiple grizzlies. The following year on a similar trip, we slant in the back of the truck...

Other than that scenario, I've pretty much decided against the RTT.

I did look long and hard at that same clamshell design you mentioned at the Overland Expo West last Spring. One reason was the cargo area it had on top of its clamshell. I like to haul two kayaks, and though that might allow that. But the reality was...it would be a royal pain to have to remove kayaks...just to open the tent. Let's say you are camping, but not right next to a lake. Maybe you decide to launch the kayaks early while someone else sleeps in... In a standard tent? No problem! Leave them asleep while you haul the kayaks...or...while you head to town...or go wheeling.

The other thing against RTT for me was the fact that when it's time to go wheeling...you not only have to take everything out of the tent to close it up...but you also have to cram everything back into the truck! With a standard tent...I usually feel comfortable leaving clothes and sleeping bags in the tent all day while we’re out and about.
