A few of us from OAUSA will be camping out in Calico the weekend of March 27th-29th. Were just getting organized so chime in if you have any suggestions. There will be a pretty good mix of rigs from Jeeps to Pinzgauers. Hope you can come, it should be a good time. Thanks.

Edit: Doh! that's next weekend for your trip, not this weekend. Will have to see.

Beach n toys (about 7 of us) will be there on Saturday night or sunday morning at the end of our mojave road trip, we will look you up.

Is this the same run as this? If so, thanks for helping out Calico... i love that place and was bummed when i found out no cleanup this year.

Calico Clean Up Trail Run - Expedition Portal Forum

Kinda of yes, kinda no, I guess so. http://www.myjeeprocks.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13577 Since there is no Cali Cleanup MyJeepRocks.com and some others it seems are doing there own clean up in conjunction with their 6th annual IDTT run and myself and some other friends are going to join them. At least until we get sick of the stinkeye. LOL

Man would love to make it out Scott. Don't think it will work though. :bang:

Hadn't heard the Clean Up isn't happening. That is pretty lame, especially since the locals who benefitted most from it are the ones that made last year so difficult.

Not sure what happened but The Calico Clean project is a great project. I personally had a lot less fun last year than the year before for several reasons. Our group got totally hosed on the clean up site. We got to clean up the field east of Peggy Sue's on the other side of the freeway from Calico. That sucked! :crybaby: Worse than that was having the BBQ and raffle all the way back in town in Barstow and finally not allowing us to camp as a group on the dry lake was ridiculous. I travel that area regularly and when the wind howls and the sandstorms start it doesn't matter how many people are on the lake, it's gonna blow sand, period. Sad as it sounds we did a really good job out there the first few year so maybe a year off and the junk will pile up and make it more challenging again.

Right now my calendar is open for that date, I might be able to make it.

Tare it would be good to see you again, it's been too long! Gas is cheap at the Outlet Center in Hinkley, I paid 1.99 for premium a few weeks ago at the Flying J. Just trying to get you a hall pass. ;)

Bummer I am not going to be able to make it. The wife’s birthday is on Tuesday. I am going to sick around house watch the kids and doing honey dos. Have fun, would have been a blast to make it out with you guys.:crybaby:

so whats the plan for saturday and sunday? thinking about coming but it'll only be for the day. saturday more likely.

Another time Tare, should be a fun summer and spring ahead of us. BTW Where do live in CM. I'm at 20th & Santa Ana Ave.

2020 Santa Ana #K to be exact. I'm all the way in the back far left. Stop by some time, I always have cold Bass Ale and Corona on tap. :D

Scott I am pretty close, 297 Bowling Green Dr. in the Collage Park homes just south of OCC. Your place looks like it's gated though..........oh wait....I get it....

We should all hook up at GLOBE DELI sometime for a brat and a beer!

I've never heard of the place. Is it in that stripmall? I gooled maped it but the picture from the street view was blury.

Scouts or golf, at least admit it. :D

Golf, installation of new CB antenna on the LC - rerouting the coax down the PS, installation of a ham radio in the Miata. No scouts...that was last weekend!
It's also year end at work. Been working way to late...I need some rest and a long weekend of wheeling, fun and relaxing as it will be ain't rest.

The plan is that there is no plan, unless you want to join the MJR guys and do their runs. We're just gonna play it by ear.

So, if by chance we do decide to run Odessa and Doran, how doable is it in an 80 without sliders? I have no problems running difficult trails, but I'm not into needless carnage just to say I ran such and such trail.

I have never been up there. What other challenges or interesting things are there (beside the "ghost town" )
