Hey Brother im following Mark and John to follow you !!!!!!! LOL all i know is we are heading north

I can get us to Stockton with no problem.
I can get us to Hwy 88 with no problem.

I just don't know where the turn off is for Deer Valley. I'm hoping we can stop in Jackson before going up the hill to fuel up and get a few permits.

By the time we leave Stockton it should be one heck of a caravan.

65SWB45, Landcrusher909, Calico Kid, OrangeFJ45, Sine80, myself and maybe Fast Eddy, Skillet.

Anyone attending with kids who has not posted on the 45 forum, please post with the number and age of them so as I can have enough goodie bags for all.

Thanks-Bill

Will we be on CDF Land, BLM Land or USFS land? I don't have a clue where we are going. I'm just part of the caravan.

Just saying, if there is one by your home you can get a permit.
It does not matter who you get it from, it works on Fed, State or local lands with any ranger you might run into.

Hey Jeb, we are heading up fri. morning(late). We will prob. camp at blue lakes somewhere fri.night so we can have a fire & wheel in on the trail sat. am.
The whole family is going so we will go easy on the wheeling in&out the 88 side.
So if we don't see ya' on fri. we will be looking for everyone on sat.
Drink some beers& hang out at one of the river crossings.
You are welcome to caravan up w/us on fri.
John

I would love to tear away and head up in the morning but I will probably have to work until the afternoon. Thanks though.

As you said, if we don't see you Friday, it will be on the trail.

So does everyone need a permit or a few per group?

2ndgen, billybongo, bull, and tor will be up Friday before noon. Can we hit a place on the 88 side before blue lakes to get a permit?

To answer a few question. . .

There is a ranger station for camp stove permits on hwy 88 above jackson. Heading east you will go through Pine Grove then Pioneer and the Buckhorn, just as you go through Buckhorn there is a ranger station on the right off Silver Drive (you will see a 76 station). I have a permit, but I am not sure how many are required for a group of our size.

I am heading up between 1:00 and 3:00 leaving from Pine Grove, which is east of Jackson if anyone wants to join in on a slow trek up the hill.

The turn off for Blue Lakes is clearly marked on the right hand side oh Hwy88. As you go up and over Carson Pass you are getting close, as you begin to fall in elevation and enter Hope Valley you will see a brown sign for a snow park approaching in 1/4 mile along with a sign indicating hope valley campground and Blue lakes 12 miles.

Is the plan to camp at the first water crossing from the hwy 88 side?

Dylan

Yes there are a bunch of campsites before you hit the first water crossing.

So can I still buy a t-shirt?

billybongo63- great idea for the kids.Mine are ages 7-boy& 4-girl.

D'Animal-turnoff from 88 on blue lakes rd. north of carson pass.If you have time the red lake turnoff just past carson pass is a great 4wd road(easy)real cool drive to get to blue lakes also.Blue lks. rd. is now paved all the way to the deer valley trailhead.Follow signs to twin lake.Turn right at building w/green roof. You will see Deer Valley trail 19E01 on the left also marked 9N83.Head south along blue creek,be sure to check out the large waterfall on the right. You can hear it from the trail.
It only takes about an hour from the trailhead to get to the camp areas.Pretty rough trail, fun stuff! I guess everyone is planning on staying at the 1st. river crossing?
I like the 2nd. one back in the trees.

This trail is on Eldorado ntl. forest map

Bull, here is the # I called for the ranger station in Jackson(209)295-4251 Amador Ranger District. There is also a information center at carson pass

Workingdog- what kind of 4wd do you guys have.Last year I tacoed(smashed) my running board on my 93FZJ80 before I got sliders. That was w/the 2.5" lift. It's doable in a stocker,I just chose a bad line.

Thanks for the numbers.. Getting anxious to get down there:D

Jsuthey,

I hate to admit it, but we'd be coming in a Hummer H3. Neither our FJ60 or our FJ40 is up to the trip at the moment. We made it in the road to the Gold Lake OHA campground if anyone knows that road - and if we make we'll be bringing a 4 year old.
