I had a blast too, wheeled the hell out of my rig. I chased two rock buggies and one TJ all over the place. These were operated by two of the editors of Jp Magazine and friend of theirs. All they keep saying was wow. The 80 went everywhere they did with out any fuss. They had to load theirs back on trailers and I drove mine home, :).

snailwagon, if one of the 80's you saw was blue w/ lots of pinstripping and a wilson cb antenna towards the rear of the roof running 285 bfg at's, it might have been me. I had to be winched at one point while going to the phone booth but that was because a few rigs ahead of me dug trenches so deep I got centered. totally embarassing. I coulda made it if I had gone sooner in the line up.

Most of my problems were on the really silty steep parts. We ran a little later in the day and most of these climbs had deep holes from people spinning out. Without lockers the holes kept getting me. Get stuck in a hole, barely inch out and lunge forward in first gear, repeat every 10 ft., it was really only one of the blue trails that gave me hell. It was fun putting on a show, the pig had quite an audience on a couple of sections. I'm not sure how many people even stopped and asked about the pig. I was surprised that no matter how much I dragged that pig belly around, I never got high centered enough to be stuck. The engine torque from gassing it was enough each time to rock the wheels on the ground. I will go again for sure, and there seemed to be plenty of toyota representation.

And miked, I didn't pay that much attention to the 80's, but I did see the blue one with antenna, and a white one on probably 35"s with some advertisement stuff on the side. It was a shame to see how many people trailer their street legal, registered vehicles. Run what you brung dammit.

I had a blast this last weekend too, I took a different approach to the crowds and run, We ran the TDS run friday afternoon, only saw two rigs on the trail, found the trail markers by accident, were North of the phone booth peak and drove up on the trail markers, seems TDS marked the outer portion of run early and then marked the areas close to camp on Sat morning, so we ran it with no crowds and the trail was not chopped up yet, what a blast:D
Then Saturday, we got on quads and watched everybody stuck in traffic looking like the 405, saw a TJ, Bronco, Rubbicon and CJ roll over, the CJ happened right in front of us, not real pretty.
Saturday afternoon we searched the canyons south of camp for some awsome wheeling, The best kept secret of the area is south of the camp area, north of s22, man some real tight canyons with rocks and ledges that made the day complete,

Newps, nice ride, I will have my 97 40th there next year with most of the stuff your running
