Hi to you all and thanks in advance for any help you may be able to provide. My 2004 100 was hit in the rear passenger side quarter panel. The body damage is repairable, but in assessing the damage, the body shop discovered that the Rear Evaporator has also been damaged and advised that the part alone is $4,400, which will push the repair cost beyond the insurance threshold. My truck is in imminent danger of being totaled over a parking lot fender bender. Does anyone know of a solution that does not include replacing a $4,400 part? Thanks again!

Disable rear HVAC by capping the lines to the rear. Or salvage yard/used replacement.

Edited your title, urgent is generally reserved for people that are stranded. $4400 is MSRP, it's available online for $3300. Also, the individual pieces of the whole unit are available, so maybe if they inspect a little more what's actually broken.

Trunk Monkey brings up a very good point. You might not need to replace the entire unit only certain components that are damaged since parts are still available.

Sorry for the misuse of the "urgent" tag. I was in a time sensitive position of needing to decide if I wanted to take on the replacement or allow the insurance company to total the rig. Ended up taking a very nice settlement for the total and have since replaced my truck with another 100. Thanks for your help!
