2004 No crank when starting

My wife started complaining about a clicking near the ignition or dashboard the other after starting the car fine, but a few days later, the car will occasionally not crank.

- You turn the key to START, the radio/nav cuts out (like normal), but then there is simple no crank.
- No luck when switching to neutral
- Waiting a bit and trying again, and it cranks fine. (So far this has also involved popping the hood and relay box cover)

- Happens after you drive it and then park it and let it sit for a bit
- I tried swapping the STR relay with a newer one, and it still happened again today
- Battery tests good, terminals are on tight and clean (its not a power cut out
- Its been pretty hot out but the cars done fine in hotter.

TODO:
- Voltage Test of SRT terminals While its not cranking to see if the relay is getting power

Any ideas? Has anyone else encountered this issue? This is a WAF (Wife annoyance factor) 10 here!

OK! Happened again today and I have more info. I was off, and you guys were on target: this not the starter, but (at least in my case) this is a temperature dependent intermittent failure that solves when something in the fuse box cools down. The STR relay wasn't clicking when trying to crank, but also nothing else in the relay box in the engine bay was clicking when the ignition is ON, and I also noticed the CEL is not illuminating when the ignition switch is ON when the bay is hot (thank you for this pointer, I did not noticed this before).
