I recognize those "dimples" on the far side of the gas tank, along the frame. I spent plenty of time installing mine recently. :)

Anyway, what's the purpose of the rectangular hole? I think it could actually hinder you if it got hung up on a pointy rock.
It’s for access to the transfer case drain. Overengineered it in my opinion, it is only four small bolts to remove that skid plate, which I would do anyway if I was doing transfer case service. The hole isn’t that big, some perspective issues . . .

Ironman belly plate is $599 right now

Shipping will most likely be about $200 or more. About 5/32" thick. Interesting however.

That wrap around the LCA is an interesting design. It looks like it might provide some splash deflection for the alternator on the passenger side
In my small experience, the real issue with crap getting into the alternator is from going deep enough for the clutch fan to literally throw mud into the engine bay.

When I did mud drag racing, the stock trucks could “get by*” with an electric fan that was turned off for the few seconds the truck was actually in the mud.

But mud gets everywhere, and it won’t come out unless you scrap it out. Ih8mud.

I had the ARB Skid package installed on my 2020 LC200 HE recently. Installation took about two hours. Not as beefy as SLEE or Budbuilt, but adequate for the type of off roading I do.

Had this Auto-Craft bash plate fitted last week, ran a similar one on my 100 for many years replacing the aluminium plate once after a very big impact

How about the OEM configuration for skids? Is it any good?
The OEM front skid provides minimal protection, as it’s thin sheet metal like quality. The engine skid is plastic and really only provides protection from small branches getting through. The transmission skid is decent and strong but does not provide a wide enough are of coverage. I managed to put a minor dent in my transmission pan when I had factory skids. The transfer case skid is decent but does not isolate the transfer case from taking a direct hit as it’s weight bearing…..similar to the ARB T-Case skid.

Total Chaos 200 Series Aluminum front and belly skid. 1/4" Stock.
Front 24.6 lbs
Belly 18.8 lbs
Bolts and nuts includes 7 bolts marked 10.9 and four spacers.
*edit add weight removed and total*

Front Skid - 16.6 lb
Front Skid trim and lower support pieces - 4.4 lb
Belly Skid (composite) - 5.6 lb
Gear Skid - 5.8 lb
Total weight removed - 32.4 lb

Total weight added = 43.4 - 32.4 = 11 lb

Install is very straightforward.
Thinking of going the Total Chaos route.

Still happy? The paint is just for aesthetics, correct?

I liked them fine. I dented the front/engine combined skid at the end of last summer in a heavy hit. Ordered a BB front and engine out of 3/16” to replace with (receipt still pending it’s been 9 weeks I think). The place I hit is the front bend at lowest level, the place which is likely to hit a lot. I got the BB instead of another TC set as BB reinforces this area with a double layer of plate.

Will continue running the TC transmission skid. Paint was optional though the bending press marks are Pretty noticeable and there were some other minor scratches I didn’t mind covering up.

ARB skid plate checking in

The plate is pretty bowed from a MOAB trip but mounts and mating surfaces are straight.

My transmission and transfer case skids are perfect. If I were getting BB skids I would definitely consider steel for front and aluminum for the rest.

Any issues removing the front skid plate it with that little damage? I like how recessed the mounting points are. I have yet to get out and bang mine up!
