They call me the Safety Captain around here

For 20+ years I have been helping men stay alive by all the proper modifications that are needed to their LC

least all I could do
That's funny. They call me "Mr Safety" here.....I am not sure that it is deserved....

you need a working engine, to be Mr. Anything around here.. ;)
I have a working engine. Just not with the one I brought to the dance....

Wheeling at Big Bend this weekend. This thing is a dream both on and off trails man. Talk what you want about fuel consumption, efficiency, hybrid, blah, blah...this V8 makes a 9 hour road trip soooo enjoyable. It is effortless ascending, descending, straight road, carving bends, you name it. You just hear the purrrr and the shear mass moving along. Off-road I do not even need to explain all the torque and composure. There is a reason these are so beloved. If you are considering trading in your 200, I would suggest a quick road trip and wheeling it for a couple days before taking this decision. It might be hard to do so afterwards. ;)

The first pic is ascending Black Gap trail. I simply can't see how an LX600 or 700 would be able to climb that without ripping off that chin. In H2 or H3 or whatever, there is no way. Pics do not show, but this is a very high ledge.

Great points. I sometimes feel guilty but I love this thing on road trips.
As to your front clearance point, Jonny Lieberman took both two stock facelifted 200s (Toyota/Lexus) out to Moab and they both completed every obstacle attempted but the front and rear bumpers on the LX were toast!

Yeah. And it only got worse with the 600/700. It is like Toyota heard the complaints about the 570 "predator grill" and decided to double down on the stupidness just for the sake of piss off their buyers. I mean, they could have fixed that. Just look at the new GX550 - which is not great because it does not raise the suspension, but if they had combined that with the ACH in the LX, voila we could have a 300 series with a decent approach.

Been lurking around this sub for a few months and finally got my 200 a few weeks back. My wife thinks you all are terrible influences. Got a new pair of shoes yesterday just in time for the Easter snowstorm. Someone already swiped my previously scratchless 2017 bumper in a parking lot, giving me the go-ahead to treat her like a proper cruiser.

This is intended mostly as a hopefully humorous thank you to ih8mud.

Re the "terrible influences". Hopefully it's not a serious issue with your wife. My wife would have agreed but she's come off that stance. Initially it was "so you're reading ih8mud AGAIN. What's that going to cost us? HMMM?" But she's now realized that the forum has saved us numerous trips to the dealer and averted more than a few screwups that might have occurred had I attempted some DIY things (e.g. diff and transfer case fluid changes) myself without info. from this board. There's also the "soft" advice we've gotten for towing and trip destinations.

There's a couple of guys on this forum that talked me off the ledge, so to speak, the day I got my new travel trailer and towed it the first time. One guy gave me his cell # in case I had questions!!! Just wow!

You can't buy what you get here IMHO!
So I take every chance I can to give back.

This feels like one of the last places online where this holds true. Thank you everyone for keeping the ‘mud community what it is.

It's not a serious issue of course. No truck is worth ruining a good marriage. I think she secretly loves the new truck, she just hasn't said it out loud yet. Maybe I can get her to reveal her true feelings after getting her out on some trails this summer.

I do enjoy the helpfulness and wealth of knowledge around here though. Keeps me productive instead of doomscolling reddit
