My nephew got an off-roader - and doesn’t have much experience in taking it off pavement, so we had a family outing this week to give him some experience - even if it was minor. Lots of smiles all around and got a family photo of the two of them together.

I have had this 200 for a little over two months and already put 7k miles on it. Really loving it.

is your GX now getting a new engine with yesterday’s announcement?
Manufacturing process was changed in February of 2023, so engines produced after that ‘should’ not have any issues.

I'm curious the resale price difference between those that are in the window for engine replacements versus those after the window. I imagine it will take 5 years for Toyota to replace all these engines for free.

The GX is involved too? I thought it was the Tundra and LX only???
Given its the same motor, I thought it should be, with so much problems in the TUndra/LX. But poster above said GX is exempt..

Be interesting to see the resale hit on these vehicles

My dealer monkey can barely change oil - we are relying on them to do full engine swaps?

My brand new $45,000 tacoma had engine harness damage. Toyota covered under warranty $15,000 damage. Sadly the dealer monkeys can't even fix it.

Since its been "fixed," it intermittently starts, left me stranded twice, electrical gremlins...

And we are not talking middle of nowhere... we are talking very high volume (world scale) Toyota dealer monkeys

Geez that sucks about the taco.

I would be fuming if my truck was in the recall window. I get it, things happen and all and no car company is perfect, but this isn’t good at all. I wouldn’t except a “new” engine (guaranteed, warranty or promise) in a 100k plus new vehicle. I am super anal and this would kill me every time I drove it. If there is no other option, as soon as I got it back I’d be looking to trade it in and or fight for a new one.

I really hope it works out well for everyone

I am sure many people will dump their tundra/lx after motor replacement for the exact reasons you mentioned

If they come with nice discounts could be an interesting proposition
Jinx lol

We buy new and keep for a long time and do most our own maintenance.

However, if the price is right and the warranty can go deep we would look at one of those LX’s for my wife to daily.

Thanks!

For the front, I have the new OME Nitrocharger Plus set at the highest setting, plus a Superpro upper spring preload spacer/bushing thing. View attachment 3679624

Plus OME upper control arms.

On the rear I have the 2721 springs with a Superpro 15mm spacer and the @eimkeith panhard bar relocation.

Tires are 275/65R18 BF Jesuses on reproduction TRD Pro Tundra wheels from wheelership.com.

Ride is pretty close to stock, a bit stiffer from the springs, but smooth. Flexes really well. The smaller tires are super nice on the highway for handling, power, and economy. And frankly I don't need the extra clearance for what I do. Don't think I'd make any changes at this point.

Do you have any more info on the "Superpro upper spring preload spacer/bushing thing." Why did you install it? Did it make any driveability difference? Where did you get it? Thanks!

People who know motors have been replaced, or people who don't know and don't care?
Most probably wouldn’t even be aware of it and buy on price.

Others know about it and buy on price.

It comes down to Toyota standing behind their product or selling a turd and they have the reputation of selling reliable, typically boring, vehicles. As a buyer I’d buy the Toyota with the Toyota replaced engine way before I’d even consider doing the same with a different manufacturer.
