I don't know if it is garbage but powder coating can be hit and miss at times. The design issues are what I was most surprised about though. The SLEE weighs and costs too much IMHO - I've got a trailer to pull too.

Sorry for your experience but appreciative of your honest and straightforward review. Such a helpful take.

You Texas guys are a crack-up with a dusting of snow. Wish I could recapture that feeling again! In all seriousness, the roads look awful there. Be safe!

I must say, my RLC rear bumper has been great so far. A lot more affordable than Kaymar and Slee. That sucks something that expensive looks like it won't last more than a year without needing to be refinished.
Getting the wings powder coated locally at place I trust - the Kaymar vendor will probably cover it I'm told.

I'm from the Sip!

Replaced the rear bumper with something very special. A couple of other fun things coming to my build thread soon - can't wait for wheeling season and LCDC!

Redstone whips, love it!!
You know it! Need to see more of your FJ40, classes up the joint!

Also about to go under the Duggy scalpel so I will be a little more worthy of your 200 in the near future.

Snow is a novelty for sure! This is my hood earlier today. Never thought I’d see Houston look like this! 200 related because mine is down there somewhere 😇

The 40 is at Duggys right now getting fuel injection installed. We will have to do a Redstone meet up one day. Two other guys in our office just got heritage editions

5" or 6" of fine powdery snow last night.

You asked for it so .... HERE it comes! The Kaymar rear bumper is in a word or two "very disappointing!" I bought it as I was getting an LRA tank from the same folks and needed one - it is also somewhat of a disappointment. They tell me all be be handled but nothing yet has been done.

The bumper arrived late due to covid, ships, shipping, etc in addition to the expected order delay.
The parts in the box were packed well individually but they easily moved about (no actual damage luckily).

The powder coating started to come off before it left town on its maiden voyage (less than two weeks). Upon mention of this to the mud vendor I was not very attentive to the issue.

The included light wiring kit requires all sorts of hassle to get done and is far from plug-and-play. I've wired race cars and such but this is an OEM replacement with well known connectors for goodness sake.

There are no provisions for the license plate mount for the USA and zero ideas for wiring the light other than two bare wires dangling. Like how to snake, best place to wire, etc. The plate mounting itself doesn't take into account rubbing with the cans be they metal or plastic.

The included camera relocation kit was the wrong one - a long while later I got it but haven't installed it yet. The vendor didn't make provisions for me to return it.

The spare tire mount is fixed laterally and will only move forward and back a bit due to the locking mechanism (see why negative below).
The jerry can holders are welded with zero adjustments available.
These two together cannot possibly fit more than a 34 inch or so tire fully inflated as there is no room between the two mounts (and remember zero adjustments).

The latches are hard to get to, no springs to help them latch and stick constantly. The latches rub on the bumper and are making the crappy powder coating disappear in addition to the coating flaking off.

There are ZERO plates under the bumpers so they are exposed to catch things, allow mud and whatnot to get up in the bumper and the wires (see above) and whatever else is in there.

The trailer wiring connector is even further back and down now - didn't think someone could make it more hidden and inconvenient but I was wrong.

AND I cannot open my tailgate with my bike rack on even with an extender as the swing outs hit stuff (not Kaymar exclusive more than likely).

So ... yeah. They work and don't rattle but I think I could have done better for the same money. If you have a more narrow application look for a hitch swingout as it can be easily removed when not needed.

this makes me feel much more confident in my RLC weld fab dual swing out bumper. Thanks for the review. It also looks like the kaymar does not increase clearance from the stock bumper by much.
