Very important in a turbo diesel and can also be used to tune the engine for optimum performance. You likely won't see a performance turbo set-up without these gauges installed since EGTs are very critical to longevity of any diesel (esp turbo) engines.

ditto ..

P.S. i thought at least the new trucks turbo diesel need to come already with those gauges .. or at least with light to know over boost and more than safety EGTs !

Couple more pictures from Proffitts from picking up the trucks. The drive was mostly at night, so I didn't get any good vista shots, just pics of the damn white 80 in front of me.

Right now the truck is getting new injectors and a second tank with heater my local shop in Half Moon Bay. Once thats all done I just have to get my 4x4labs rear bumper on and its ready for the rubicon.

Plantdriver, I have a local source for biodiesel and svo/wvo, but if I find myself over in the east bay I will swing by. Nice website btw.

From all the research I (and many others here) have done I was told that you could not do this conversion and have it smog legal in CA (I know diesels are smog exempt that is not the issue). Is there a loop hole I am missing somewhere? Any insight would be much appreciated!

to see the quality of install... there are lots more picts here...

Hey PlantDriver (Craig)... is your 1HDT powered 80, white? I saw one in Berkeley near our new office (SolarCity), parked alongside a D90-tdi.

Mine's beige metallic, and the Defender is blue and white. Solar City's on Dwight I see - call me up and stop by sometime - 510-841-3606

I thought those BT's are pretty new or not . ?

You can get a brand new one from Cummins but most are from the early 90's. I have a 1992 Cummins 4BT in my '91 FJ80. The mid 90's and newer models are still running around in bread vans.

Ummmmm........still making them. You can buy a brand new non electronic controlled 4BT from Cummins. Well, actually they are a Recon'd engine but with a full Cummins warranty. Or.....you can buy the electronic controlled 4BT known as the ISB.

Anyone run SVO in an HJ47?

Plantdrive? Grease Cruiser? What's the deal on a two-tank setup for a 2H?

Never done one on a 2H but should be the same as a 4BT. Basically, you need two tanks, 1 for the straight veggie and the other for petroleum diesel/bio-diesel. You start/stop on the dino/bio diesel tank and then switch to the veggie tank when the fuel is hot enough to burn. Typically 165 degrees F.

I would recommend a series of heating systems. A coil in the veggie tank where you run engine coolant, heated fuel lines (fuel line w/in a heater line of engine coolant), 12V electrically heated fuel filter, and a brazed plate heat exchanger from your top radiator hose and the veggie oil goes directly into the injection pump after this final heating.

Lots of info out there on the net. Good luck with it.

just a little curious, have you done a dyno on one of those 4BTs?

I want to know how much power they are putting out fully tuned, not just the stock numbers :)

interesting to know that just in a TLC 80 series .. hoy much it can loose throught the drive train.
