I purchased a fully optioned LC 2008 around Halloween time. Black with tan interior.

The truck has been very nice - I have been a long time Toyota owner and this truck is an upgrade from my prior Sequoia.

The dealership knew very little about the maintenance of this model (and still demonstrates poor knowledge). Granted, I purchased the truck as soon as it hit the lot - they knew I was waiting for one.

I have two annoying issues- still unresolved to my satisfaction:

1 - when viewed from the rear, the driver side of the body sits lower --> visibly so. Twice in for a look by the repair shop - they have said it is spec'd to within 3/4" per wheel. Still noticeable, a 15K car doesn't have this issue. I have never had this issue with any other new car before. Not expected on a 70K+ vehicle. other owners with this issue?

2 - the shift into first gear from a dead stop, mostly "drops" into gear - not a smooth transition. Also not expected on a 70K+ vehicle.

Other than these issues, the truck has been excellent - very nice power, quiet, refined interior (without being overly done). Look forward to many years of ownership. The leveling issue is my biggest bother - every time I look at it in the garage - it drives me nuts......

Around halloween time? The new LandCruiser wasn't released then.

1. I have never noted this on mine.
2. Would this be the clunk? Happens now and then for me. Mostly if I have a heavy foot from go which I usually do.

Its the legendary Toyota clunk. I took in my FJ today for a 30k mile service and to lube the drive shafts so the clunks can go away.

Almost all 100s have the purported lean. I would check that forum for fixes.

I will try and upload a picture loking at the rear of the truck this weekend when I have time during the day.

Will also call the dealer for a lubrication, I do not not have to stomp the gas pedal for the clunk. Gently giving the truck gas pedal from a full stop will almost always induce the "clunk"

Also, I will check the 100's forums.

Lube the driveshafts and the clunk will go away. Simple as that.

I still don't believe you have a 200 if you purchased it around halloween. I think you have a new 100.

They did offer them for sale in October in countries other than the US.....

although really not relevant --> around halloween --> means week of halloween which included Nov 1-3. So it was somewhere in that time frame.

If really bothers you, I could look up my purchase papers...

I do know the difference between a 100 and 200 (quite simple).

Anyway, thanks for the information, will be curious to see if any others notice a significant difference in tire-top to wheel well distance with associated body lean

Everyone knows the difference, 100 looks like a LandCruiser and 200 looks like a Kluger :D

A more accurate way to measure would be from the center of the hub to the bottom of the wheel-well/fender flare. Eliminates tire pressure/wear from the equation

I have not noticed any 'lower' drivers side at all. Then again I have not looked for it. I will checked out mine and see if I find it also.

The gearing thing has be noted. My 'clunk' has come back slightly since the lubing, but I am not worried about i.

You got yours in October??? In what country do you live? I didn't think they were released that early in the USA.

Dealer after third time and calls to california engineers (who at first told them replace the whole suspension), have determined there are several parts necessary. They are trying to have an engineer on site during the attempted fix. To occur over the next two days - will drop off teusday am. Also need to look into the clunk - which has become more noticeable with 6000 miles on board.

So we shall see what toyota dealer can resolve and what they cannot by wed PM EST.....

engineer not available until the 19th.

will see what they do with clunk in interim

Mine is still clunking after 6500 miles.....I am about to take it in also.
