Not heated at all, we can disagree. I just wanted to get the facts straight for others in future searches. If it works for you, then run it!

agreed, and my original post was not meant to disagree with what the factory used and what should be used just that mine had not leaked. i guess if i would buy the factory stuff i would like it but the the shelf stuff is junk.

Well it seems like I am doing this project ass backwards, but that's how I try to save a buck. Anyway, got the motor back in the engine bay. Did a compression check, here are the results:
#1-150
#2-170
#3-50
#4-100

Adjusted valves, check compression again. Also added oil to 3&4, no change.
After adjustment:
#1-171
#2-142
#3-62
#4-97

So pulled the head, no obvious visual indicators of a problem. head gasket is intact. What to do? I will post pics in a bit.

I would play with the valves one more time. Since that one exhaust valve was stuck, there could be some debris/carbon build up causing it to not seat fully, or a bent valve...or two.

Going ahead and having the head re-worked. Local shop comes recommended and seem reasonable. They told me they use a soda blast rather than sand blasting to clean things up. They claim this process is better on the small passages in cylinder heads. Thoughts?

I would tend to agree , they also need to flip the head over assessed check around the valves really good. Also don't know if they said anything but get it magnofluxed

The #4 cylinder exhaust valve is not seated in this picture because i removed it and it is just sitting in the guide with no spring. it was not like this before i pulled it.
