That is a bizarre response from Rodney. I have a 454 in one of the 7 cruisers and the truck it is in is the only truck it *should* be in.

I thought so too, Esh. Published it here anyway, but it did seem weird. I wonder if the difference is in the style of travel? I'm fine going slow (ilbeit a little faster my 3FE) in echange for the huge torque and range gains the diesel give.

As far as the bash, I'm gonna miss this one. Not in the cards for me for '09. Wish it was.

A440 and A442 are the same trans main case. The A440 and A442 were connected to 1HZ and 1HD (same block).

You can swap bellhousings from any A440(442) to another version of the trans.

Do you know if toyota used the same torque converter when bolting A440's or A442's to a 1HZ?

the 1HZ is a dog NA with an auto but with a turbo installed it rocks BUT it is a good thing you have the extreme valve body.

Valve body and TC is different for the diesel versions to account for the power curve - the shift points are different.

The TC for the 1HZ also has a different size protrusion on the engine side (fits into the back of the crank like a pilot bearing).

Install of this setup in Kens 62 is happening in the near future. We are starting out with the FJ62 trans and TC to see how it works.

Not yet. I do currently have all (or most) of the parts that would be needed for 1HZ/A440 into something though. I have a few conversion projects (94 FZJ80 and 71 FJ55) of my own that are potential recipients.

I have to finish up the 12HT 40 conversion first.
