1HZ idiot light temp sensor/sender?

Yes, I am adding a "good" aftermarket gauge. I am wondering if there is an OEM sender for an idiot light that would work in the 1HZ

Have you thought about just using the temp sender on the LH side of the cylinder head?

No, I haven't thought about it because I didn't know it existed. I'm trying to absorb knowledge now to minimize randomly flailing around under the hood later.. so thank you!
Please: is that an on/off sender rather than one that sends variable voltage to a gauge? If so, do you know what trigger temp it is set for? What is is used for in stock form?
