Hi all ..

I'm going to make some maintenance in my beauty Marilu .. and ssen that I need to spend few $$$ in my Alt .. I'm searching for options ..

Anyone here have experiences with aftermaket alternators in the 1HD-T .. ?

I was seen my 1FZ-FE alternator and seems pretty similar to the 1HD-T alternator .. the only thing that I " saw " diferent it's the spot for the conector ..

Opinions .?

Whats wrong with the origiinal? If you want more amps, use a 120 amp alt off a HZJ7*
robs pics 002 (Medium).webp

Only 80 amps .. I want more ! :D

How much for a HZJ 120 amps ( that I never see here ) over there .. ?

These are aftermarket.TOYOTA LANDCRUISER 70 SERIES 1HZ ALTERNATOR - eBay, Other Car Parts, Accessories, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 08-Jun-08 17:11:28 AEST)
The others I have seen are good quality. They use parts that are an exact copy of denso.Sometimes the only difference is the color of the insulators.
I also have an aftermarket starter motor and aircon compressor , identical to Toyota. All can be rebuilt with Denso parts .
Oh there is also the radiator ,great quality:D
They are made in Taiwan ,Indonesia
Mining companies are big users of these.
A seller told me the companies were set up to cater for the mining industry but with prices much lower than the dealer

The shipping would be painfull. Sea mail (3 months max) might be cheap enough.
Maybe there is some in South America where there are mines

EDIT The 80 1HZ is 120 amps and $20 cheaper:grinpimp: Is 1HZ and 1HD T brackets the same??

The brackets are the same, but I dont know about the plug

the plug should be a easy fix .. the interestin part are the amps ..

There is 2 plugs, kind of. The bit with the wires hanging down unplugs to reveal another plug.
But I cant see why the 1HZ and 1HD T wouldbe different. Anyome got a pic?

I have a shop here that sells replacement alternators for all vehicles. They said some GM vehicles(probably a pick up) have a 170 amp alternator that will fit inside the 1FZ FE alternator housing.
I guess you would have to change the the pulleys as well

Kevin Morrowland here in the states told me that the FZFE alternator will bolt to the HZ/HD as well. I think he is using one on his HZ.

That's exactly what I thought .. at least looks both very similar ..

The HZ and HD alt are exactly the same ( outside ) from the FZ I only note the diferent place for the plug .. coz the FZ sits in the drivers side and the HD and HZ in the pass side .. ( well mine pass side .. :) )

This is where I thought they were different. The 1FZ is a mirror image of the 1HZ. You can make a bracket but its not a straight swap.

I'm just a little concern about the ajust with my home made braket .. need to take few pics and post here for some brain storm about it.

Mine is not bolting up directly. The tensioning bolt hole is not matching up with the grove in the bracket. Bolt hole is too low.

So after quite a fight to get the bolts out I have the bracket in hand. I've enlarged both holes. Need to find new bolts then reinstall to see if I've introduced enough play. Will post back when I'm done or I end up burning the sucker down.
