1HD in an 80?

How did you get your HDJ80 into the US? Given prices of new Toyota vehicles, especially the trucks, if I could import a Euro spec 80 series for about the same price as a new Tundra, I'd much rather have the used 80 series. I know all about the importing hassles etc. but as far as I've heard no one has yet gotten an 80 series through import to open the door for others to follow.

I bought mine when it was already here in the country. I do not know how it got here but I can tell you what I think. Someone came here or came back here from the chez republic and was able to bring there vehicle (HJD81L) and they kept it for some amount of time (maybe a year or 2) and then sold it to someone else, who then sold it to someone else after a period of time, who then sold it to me after they owned it for a period of time. As far as I know I have the only 96' HJD80 (not converted) in North America.

i dropped G&S an email this morning....I totally understand what your saying and i guess its something i would need to consider. Honestly both routes sounds awesome. Price wise, it sounds like a Turbo 1fz and a turbo 1hd are going to run similar in price in the end.

bottom line though, either is a sweet truck....turbo diesel or turbo gasser.

You could also supercharge a 1FZ pretty cheap these days the kit from TRD is awesome, and a very nice "kit".
