Like it says above I am looking for an A/C compressor for a 1HD-FT so I can keep my wife happy!
The clutch seized and broke off parts of the snap ring groove in the aluminum housing so I need a complete assembly, cannot just replace the clutch assembly.
Hoping I can get one in north America, lots on Ebay australia but nobody wants to ship so far. If nothing else I will get a relative over there to air mail me one.

Because they never came with the diesel engine in the States, I don't have a way to look up what compressor came on that engine. Do you have any part numbers and/or pic's of the compressor? There should be a tag on the back of the compressor with the Denso part #.

If you would like to replace the whole compressor assembly, I would recommend that you upgrade to a later Denso model off the Mazda MPV ('94-'95 models) and it is supposed to be a drop-in replacement for the 1HDT (check compatibility with 1HDTFT though!). I picked one up from my local salvage yard but didn't install it yet since my compressor still working fine. Waiting for it to die before I install the newer one.

I'm almost 100% positive it's the same compressor as the 1FZFE.

I have a compressor if you need one. it came off my 97 1fzj80. A/c makes me sick in any car so when I had to work on my oil pump seal I just removed it. It is in good shape still in the shop in a box.

It's not the same as the 1FZFE. The gas motors used a 10PA17C, the Denso # in post 3 is for a 10PA15L, which I'm finding to be a rare one, at least here in the States. Long nosecone with extended offset for the belt. Still searching...

And not the same as the 1HD-T either, same pulley same body but short on the nose cone.

Yours doesn't have the long nosecone  Can you post some pic's? Also, measure from the center of the groove to the head of the thru-bolt on the compressor body. If it's not a 10PA15L and it's just a 10PA15C, that opens up much more potential for finding a match.

must be a misunderstanding in there, my does have the long nose cone which is the difference from the 1HD-T. I have been looking around and it may be that the 1998-2000 Toyota RAV4 has the same compressor with a different pulley... Are you able to confirm if this is true?

I've only been able to find the following applications using the 10PA15L, and they all have serpentine pulleys:

Rav4 1998-2000
T100 V-6 1994-1998
Tacoma V-6 1995-2004
Tundra V-6 2003-2004

If your clutch is in good shape, you could get one of these compressors and swap the clutch. The Rav4 compressor has a speed sensor in it, so I'd use one of the others. We stock them both, MUD price is $248.77.

The clutch is what seized and took out the nose cone of the compressor so I need a clutch as well, if the clutch / pulley is the same as a 1hd-t I can get that. Anybody know if that part is the same?

Did this ever come to a conclusion? Did you find a source for these compressors?
cheers, thanks
Jan

Has anyone found a source for a Denso 10PA15L with a V-belt pulley in North America?

I bought a Denso 10PA15L off Rockauto for my 1HD-FT only to realize it was for grooved belts, not V belts. Unfortunately my old clutch and pulley bearing are shredded so I can’t swap then over.

You can buy the clutch/mag/pulley separately.

Took me a bit but this is what I got around to doing as part of my AC refresh. I bought the following, and swapped the clutch/mag/pulley on:
  • Denso 10PA15L
  • clutch/mag/pulley 88410-22480
  • new snap rings 90099-07125 and 90099-07114
  • a couple of shim kits 88335-14020
I ended up using all three shims from one kit, and the middle size from a second kit. This just created enough spacing such that the clutch wasn't dragging. The FSM says should aim for 0.5mm spacing... I did not end up verifying that with a feeler gauge. But it works great and I have cold AC!
