Check this out. So I removed the Harmonic Balancer, replaced the Main Front Gasket & Oil Pump Cover Gasket. I used a 14mm socket on a 1/2" breaker bar to pin the Flywheel thru the access port behind the oil pan. Worked fine to break the front bolt loose that fastens the HB to the crankshaft. When I went to retorque to 305ft-lbs, the crank would only rotate CCW, and would lock after only a few degrees of CW rotation. This meant that it would lock before the the breaker bar was even touching the side of the access port. Couldn't figure out why this was happening, so eventual I just started to press harder on the torque wrench until it hit 305. Still was locked solid, but only trying to turn CW. Then I pulled up on the timing chain & cam gear... The crank turned freely CW! Somehow the timing chain was getting bound up on one of the guides or tensioners, and would only prevent the crankshaft from rotating CW. But if I lifted up the cam gear a little, it would clear the obstruction and rotate freely... Anyone ever come across this? So weird!
