NEW OEM 1FZ short block. Ok got all the pins and dowels located and installed. Also painted the valve cover. I did run into a situation I would like some input on. As far as the coolant drain plug, I attempted to install it but noticed it getting tight right off the bat with a long way to go. I didn't try to crank on it and backed it out. I've read about another here that had to tap the short block. My threads look good, it's just tight. Any input would be appreciated.

Also Beno says this is the only drain plug/cock for the 1fz.

I also posted this problem in my other thread but figured with another title somebody may chime in.

It looks right to me. Maybe there is paint in the threads in the block. I would run a tap in and out to clean the threads a bit and then give it a go.

Yeah I thought about that as far as the paint in there. Does anybody know what size tap this would require? Is this a pipe type thread? I've done some searching on this and found a couple of posts on the problem and one forum member had to tap his but no size posted.

I installed the 90910-09129 over the weekend, I want to torque it to 22 ftlb per factory spec, but it drain tube ended at 2 o’clock position when it was bottom out. I left it that way as I could not think of a better way adjust it, certainly do not want to over tighten it.
