1996 Prado upgrades

I recently picked up a 1996 JDM Prado with the 3.0 turbo diesel and manual transmission. Bone stock, but will outfit similarly to my other trucks in the fleet. ARB front bumper and winch, sliders and with mild lift (likely OME) and new tires.

I have several 80 series, a 70 series, a Hilux, 100 series, a Surf and a few 4Runners, but the 90 series trucks are new to me.
Anything I should look at other than ARB/OME, etc?

Make sure you do the usual 1KZ stuff. Timing belt, make sure the cooling system is top notch 100%, and plan for head replacement.

No clue on the ARB/OME stuff, but you have a 1996 4Runner in your signature and I'd guess all that would basically copy/paste to the Prado.

If the surf and 4runners are 3rd gen, the 90 series will have a lot of overlap to them.

First thing... Change the LJBs, with OEM

A little off topic but relevant when you get to suspension upgrades.

I have Bilstein 6112 coil-overs with 550lbs springs and Bilstein 5160 with OME 890 springs that I am removing from my '98 Prado. This was a '98 4Runner kit from "Shock Surplus" and works really well on the Prado as well, it is about 2 years old and in excellent condition. Currently set for 1.5" in front and 2" in rear. Front shocks are adjustable for height with a slip ring. I will let the set go for $700 and should come off the car in the next 2 weeks. I am installing something a little more radical. My apologies for posting here as there is not much action for 90 series LCs in the for sale section.
