I think some people should get busy doing something else. Like curating and selling cruisers for a profit. Sounds like fun (and stressful af) to me.
I am in America right? Just confirming.
Agree 100%
Checking....
Yes we are in America, but more specifically North America.
Because if we were in South America, we'd all have amazing diesel 70 series.
I do have a HZJ73 and its amazing. Had it made it to North American shores as new in the 90s, it would have crushed the market.
As for curating 80 series...
The beauty of being in America, is the diversity (rich and poor) and those who are less inclined to be lazy, can really succeed in this country.
And concurrent with that, there is a wide range of 80 series land cruiser to fit all budgets. So we can all get along right? There are 80 series out there to fit almost all budgets.
With that, there are some 80 series that are in need of major baselining and TLC. That's great, since the price will be reflected as such and someone with less funds can still buy it and put in their sweat equity.
But for some others, who can't be bothered to put in sweat equity or don't have the time to put into getting a 30 yr old vehicle up to snuff, can get a turn key ready rig.
Especially those who excel in their own skills and make big bucks, prefer to pay 30k for a clean, rust free, ready for adventure LC.
They would prefer to purchase one from a connaisseur, who procures the vehicles, which is a long and painstaking process.
So naturally those without the means complain and bitch about it, and those with the means get what they want and don't pay attention to all the kvetching.
Go research Muscle Car era Mustangs, Camaros and Firebirds. Ask yourself why they are not all the same price?
Since this thread of petty complaining, I have had 7 people reach out that are tired of going out to see beaten up 80s and just want a turn key clean one.
Early on in this thread, a guy complaining about the price and asked why it wasn't 20k like others.
When asked to provide these "20k" comparisons, they were all from the rust belt.. lol
The funny thing is, you get a $15k 80 series, because the $32k was "too much",
but end up putting in another $15k and still dont get it to look as nice as the 32k Land Cruiser...
I am about to post 2 amazing white 80s on my YT channel (CruisingTheLand)
They are not mine, and I was asked if I'd post them. They meet my criteria of clean Cruisers, and owned by YotaMaster garage as their personal vehicles.
So these are dialed in. But if your budget is $15k.. please avert your eyes. These will both be in the 30s.
If you like to wrench on your vehicle, please ignore then, as these will be completely dialed in mechanically too.
