How did my.post turn into this? People telling me what my price should be, and then posting their neighbors Gwagons and Raptors. So strange.
I didn't see any Land Cruisers either...
You had an opportunity to see what a clean properly maintained Land Cruiser should be as a comparative to the 20k ones you seek out. At least it would give you a reference point.
The one worthy vehicle was the Gwagon. I would consider that in trade.

Fair enough but the respectful thing to do though is to privately message him and respectfully throw out your offer. otherwise if you like the prices on the others you posted, go ahead and look at buying those and ignore this members ad.

Actually just came back from filming a Beautiful 1976 FJ40 restomod.. It's insanely clean. All new Powdercoat, frame resto and Grey Satin finish. It will be on my YT channel tomorrow. Same channel as my video link at the beginning of this thread.
I may post it on iH8mud and hear all the annoying nay-Sayers.. lol. Its easily a 60k 40 series that is asking well below..
Chime in Barn with some Bud light random comments and Teghorn comparing to east coast rust buckets. Can't wait!!
But seriously. Sic 40 series!! Someone will be getting a rare Cruiser of a Lifetime.
Sneak peek on my Instagram.. Landcruiser949

The best color
Definitely best color..
So that FJ40 that I video'd and was helping someone sell for 42k...
Update. A few people inquired, and didn't pull the trigger. They could have offered something lower, like 39...
But a guy bought it at Cars and Coffee for 38k. He was a car collector/sales guy.
He saw the value. He then posted it on Ebay and CL, asking 59k. He sold it within 5 days on Ebay for an offer of 54k.
Someone is super happy with it.
It easily was a 65k FJ40 on BaT. Super clean.
Yes, I am upset I didn't buy it, but am I going to call the Flipper police or call out the Car Collector guy?
No, he saw the value.. and bought it.
Smart guy, with an eye.
And those who saw my video, missed out the chance to buy a 65k+ One of a kind FJ40 for 38k...
Here is the video of the FJ40:

I think many are just tired of seeing cars be flipped by those who add little value, by middle men, by opportunists. I won't praise someone for recognizing a good deal and capitalizing off of it--it's not a skill.
I'd much rather see cars go to those who would cherish them. One of the reasons for this fraught cruiser market we are seeing is that there are so many people who buy trucks not to use them, buy to sell them. These trucks should be driven, not resold weeks after acquiring them. That is just my 2 cents. At the end of the day, we are all here to enjoy these amazing vehicles, Cheers

I have a passion for these trucks, maybe a little more than your average Cruiserhead.
I enjoy finding clean CA specimens, rust free, give then new life (baseline, major detailing) and finding a new home. Take my small profit and fuel my LC addiction.

You gave your 2 cents..
Let me flip it and give my 4 cents:

Most who buy a beat up LC will continue to treat it as such, especially when they pay bottom dollar. Nothing wrong with that..
The higher value top dollar ones are viewed differently and cherished by the new owner.
But this is a different market segment than those looking for a cheap deal.
Luckily 80s have a wide pricing bracket to satisfy all budgets.
Trust me, someone who wants to wheel isnt looking for a 30k super clean 80...
On my Land Cruiser YT channel, I communicate with everyone that asks any question, big or small. I have heard dozens of times that my videos inspired them to buy a Land Cruiser (40,60,80,100,200 even 70). So I would like to think that I have contributed to the LC community in many ways.. by just sharing my passion.
The Nightshadow was available for months... he asked 25k. No one pulled the trigger.. no one. except me. When it was bought, 40 hours was put into it and brought it up from a 6 to a 9.5/10
It has already found a home.
There are some people that want a super clean Cruiser but don't know how to source it, baseline it etc.. They work hard doing their skilled work and take that hard earned money to get a 80 that is ready for adventure.
So be a hater if you like, that's OK.
BC every LC I curate, finds a happy home.

If you stay tuned to my channel, I have 2 amazing white 80s that will be offered. Neither are mine, but they are owned by a Toyota Mastertech shop and they came to me to market it to my subscribers.
Better than going on BaT right?
Oh.. and I have a 111k mile 1994 which will be offered soon... CA born and raised and cleanest LC I have seen in a long time and literally drives like new...
And will be offered for a reasonable price. You can follow my Instagram to get a sneak peak and see all my LCs.
@ landcruiser949
Not a plug.. I don't need 1 more follower.. but you will see other values I bring.. Like top of the line 80 series covers (that have roof racks and gear... for 50% off pricing. And below retail Recovery boards, and cool Overland gear for discounts...

So sorry that I am finding these LCs new life and homes, and hope you don't lose sleep over it.

BTW. If you were to sell YOUR 80.. Let us know how much. (Miles, condition etc..)

This is all really strange. It seems like the LAST place you'd want to try and flip a Land Cruiser--that was literally listed for sale on this very site--would be a forum of Land Cruiser enthusiasts. If this LC is indeed this one, then we should be wondering why the odometer reads 50k more now. And also why the valve cover (among other things) was swapped with parts off another truck.

Two different Land Cruisers.
One is a 1995 with 225k center locked
The other is a 1996 with 185k 3x
(that's 40k miles difference BTW)
Different front seats too.
Both are sold.

Wtf is going on here?
There are 2 Nightshadow Pearl 80 series that sold recently.
A 1995 and a 1996.
A recent commenter thinks they are the same, or is a conspiracy theorist.
Unless... Toyota only made 1 Nightshadow pearl between 1995 and 1996 and then theory could possibly hold water.

I think some people should get busy doing something else. Like curating and selling cruisers for a profit. Sounds like fun (and stressful af) to me.

I am in America right? Just confirming.

Agree 100%

Checking....
Yes we are in America, but more specifically North America.
Because if we were in South America, we'd all have amazing diesel 70 series.
I do have a HZJ73 and its amazing. Had it made it to North American shores as new in the 90s, it would have crushed the market.

As for curating 80 series...
The beauty of being in America, is the diversity (rich and poor) and those who are less inclined to be lazy, can really succeed in this country.
And concurrent with that, there is a wide range of 80 series land cruiser to fit all budgets. So we can all get along right? There are 80 series out there to fit almost all budgets.
With that, there are some 80 series that are in need of major baselining and TLC. That's great, since the price will be reflected as such and someone with less funds can still buy it and put in their sweat equity.
But for some others, who can't be bothered to put in sweat equity or don't have the time to put into getting a 30 yr old vehicle up to snuff, can get a turn key ready rig.
Especially those who excel in their own skills and make big bucks, prefer to pay 30k for a clean, rust free, ready for adventure LC.
They would prefer to purchase one from a connaisseur, who procures the vehicles, which is a long and painstaking process.

So naturally those without the means complain and bitch about it, and those with the means get what they want and don't pay attention to all the kvetching.

Go research Muscle Car era Mustangs, Camaros and Firebirds. Ask yourself why they are not all the same price?

Since this thread of petty complaining, I have had 7 people reach out that are tired of going out to see beaten up 80s and just want a turn key clean one.

Early on in this thread, a guy complaining about the price and asked why it wasn't 20k like others.
When asked to provide these "20k" comparisons, they were all from the rust belt.. lol

The funny thing is, you get a $15k 80 series, because the $32k was "too much",
but end up putting in another $15k and still dont get it to look as nice as the 32k Land Cruiser...

I am about to post 2 amazing white 80s on my YT channel (CruisingTheLand)
They are not mine, and I was asked if I'd post them. They meet my criteria of clean Cruisers, and owned by YotaMaster garage as their personal vehicles.
So these are dialed in. But if your budget is $15k.. please avert your eyes. These will both be in the 30s.
If you like to wrench on your vehicle, please ignore then, as these will be completely dialed in mechanically too.
