Hello all,

Just got a 1991 FZJ80 from someone who had it sitting for about 10 years. Said it fires right up. Well, it cranks but the fuel pump isn't turning on. Usually I use alldata to get the schematic but seems they don't support Toyota? I found a few chitons manuals online but can't figure out which one I should get that has a robust schematic in it. Figured someone here has to know?

Also, any chance anyone has a snip of the fuel pump circuit? It finally thawed out here and I'd love to get this thing running today.

Thanks!

Your 1991 is an FJ80, 3F-E engine, A440F hydraulic transmission, HF2A transfer case.
All Toyota manuals, Factory Service Manual (FSM) and Electronic Wiring Diagram (EWD) are available to download from the resources section.
Throw Chiltons/Haynes manuals in the recycling pile.

Thank you!

So the connector on the drivers rear floor going to the pump was severed at the ground. Still didn’t get the pump going. Pulled it out looks like this. Had both wires severed to the pump, re terminated just to make sure but no go. Pumps gotta be roached.[/embed]

That bracket assembly is still available for the later FZJ80s, but they all used the same top gasket. The electrical connector is different, but the pinouts are the same.
You could also look through the classified section and see who's parting out a 91/92 FJ80.
Or reach out to the several folks who regularly part out 80s on this forum.

This looks exactly the same and says it’s for a 92-97 LC but when I put in 91 it says it doesn’t fit. Can I get a 2nd opinion?

Like I posted previously, the FJ80 part has been discontinued, but the FJ80 and FZJ80 are VERY similar as far as this part is concerned. They both use the same gasket, the connector pinout is the same, but it is a different connector.
I'd be willing to bet you could make it work without too much drama.

NOTE: Some part sources show a round top bracket as opposed to the oval. That is a holdover from the FJ62 version of the 3FE. All USDM 80 Series have an oval shaped top on the fuel pump bracket.

NOTE#2: After searching through the EWD and Wire Harness Repair manuals, I can't find the female connector for the 91 that's listed in the EWD. I'm now wondering if both the FJ and FZJ used the same connector (90980−11197).

I'd be concerned about the tank if my pickup looked like that.

I bought it, let you know how it fits.

Tank looks the same, it's full too so I need to siphon all the gas out and put new stuff in there to run it. Figure out what I'm going to do about the tank later tho, just need to run the engine rn.

Big mistake thinking you can just drain and refill. That tank needs to be dropped and professionally cleaned and internally coated. Replacing the tank might be the most cost effective option as cracks in the tanks on older vehicles are becoming more common.

I'm in PA. I'm not trying to run it like this forever. I'm trying to find out if the engine works before buying a $300 fuel tank. Lets take it one step at a time.

Ok got the hanger in, and bought the fuel pump for a 91 but the fuel pump doesn't fit the hanger so I ordered the pump for the 93 which should fit. I cut off the damn connector from the new hanger because the old pump was double ring terminal design but now the correct pump requires the connector. Anyone know what pins these are? Fuel Pump Connector Kit

I don't need to spend $20 on this kit when I need 2 pins which are probably all of $8 including shipping.

EDIT: It's Sumitomo TS/SL CONN-11856 Chat GPT has really been a great asset for finding connector part #'s and terminals btw.

FWIW, the wiring harness repair manual has every connector in the truck listed for you.

Just be careful relying on ChatGPT for part numbers, especially for connectors.. it's often been wrong for me. As @Malleus said.. the electrical wiring diagrams and repair harness manuals for your specific model are in the resources section if you want to double check.
