So the problem is confined to the main and conrod bearings? What's on the camshaft?

Actually, it seems confined to the conecting rod bearings only. It seems very very rare to have an issue with the crankshaft bearings on these engines, and I've not heard any chatter or seen bad camshaft bearings. If one had oiling issues then who knows, however as a general rule it is the connecting rod bearings only. It seems to mostly be the top shell, which makes sense: It takes the brunt of the shock on ignition.

For all you folks with early HDJ81s, Keep in mind that up to 92/08 mfg 81s DO NOT have oil lever lensors so check the oil level frequently, use the correct filter and if you must use a lube joint SUPPLY YOUR OWN FILTER.[/QUOTE]

For all you folks who do not know what a lever sensor is, its a float in the oil pan that tells you when your oil is getting too low.

Another idiot light for people who never check thier fluids.

My friend purchased my 1995 80 series and calls me asking why the ligh flashes when going around corners, you can no guess why.

Seriously??

On every 1HDT engine??

And I thought they put the 1HZ in the Aussie 80 series just as a little snub to the Australians. Maybe not.

The 1HZ should have the same service done to their BEB's.
